What did you pay for your 2015?

Please forgive me for not reading through the 300-plus posts on the 2015 thread to try to glean the info I need :)

I've fallen in love with the Willys and have to order one, because what I want does not exist. My first pass through the order sheet with one dealer was not a great success; he stayed above invoice AND dinged me on my trade value, even though I'm with USAA buying service. So I moved on and have now asked several dealers for their best price on the jeep I want (removing any thought of a trade).

I read in this forum that 2014's are moving now for 1 - 5 percent below invoice, and one fellow even got some 7 percent below invoice.

So I'm curious what kind of deals folks are getting on 2015's, especially the 4 door Willys?

Also, if you love your dealer, please pass on the name; I'm willing to travel for the right deal, and have friends in TX, FL, MN, WA, TN.... buying a car would make a good excuse for a trip!

Thanks much, Sharon

My Dealer offered flat invoice on a 2015. They have nothing to lose on an order, does not go against their allotment quota and actually helps (churn and burn) more they sell/more they get allotted so.... on an order at least flat invoice of not better.
I got a 14' anyway but that wasn't your question.

I've got an offer on the table for the following:

2015 JKU Willys Wheeler - TANK (as soon as it opens)
Package 23W - 6spd manual
Prem Soft Top (MX5)
Supplemental Air Bag (CJ1)
Alpine Premium Audio (RC9)

Sticker: $34,880
Invoice: $33,350 (someone tell me if I'm wrong)
Offer: $32,868 (incl destination)

I'm assuming that's 1.5% below invoice, after VA taxes/tags/fees I'm right at $34,800.

I am also waiting on another quote from a dealer a little closer to my house who said he's offering 5% below invoice, which should put this OTD at $33,600. Don't have the offer in hand yet but should hopefully get it soon.

Possible. Hard to believe there is only $1500 mark-up (?) that is a thin profit margin <5% .
In any case, seems like a good deal to me - I like to be able to walk in the front door of my dealer after a deal and not be afraid someone is going to throw something at me.
Everybody has to eat.

Bare Bones, Do you mean you made that offer to the dealer, or the dealer has agreed to sell to you below invoice and you are thinking it over?

The dealer made me that offer since I was waiting on Tank. I let them know that I want to be able to order the day that color is an option and was comparing OTD prices.

I agree, I didn't feel like it was great at first but believe it to be accurate. If not I hope someone reads this post and tells me otherwise so I do this right.

If you go back to the 2014 info thread, it lists the base packages along with options and gives the sticker/invoice prices. I think you can find it on Edmunds as well, but I used info from here. Not all of the stickers prices for 2015 are the same as 2014, but the same pattern exists:

INvoice on the base models (sport at least) is roughly 3-5% off of sticker

Sport - $26395 sticker, $25688 invoice

Invoice is roughly sticker price less 11% on the options and packages (like freedom/willys/etc)

Premium Soft Top - $400 sticker, $356 invoice
Supp Air Bag - $495 sticker, $441 invoice

I don't think destination gets discounted like that so I didn't include in my offer, which I think is 1.5% off the invoice price

RubiconSS - when you say a $1500 mark up, from what are you marking? Dealers only want to show you the invoice, which is higher than the Bare Bones offer situation. Is there another price I should know about to help me be a better negotiator? s

#8 ·
Destination does not get discounted, you are correct.

OP, not sure where in Texas your friends are, but if you have some close to Austin or Houston, send me a PM and I can try to help you out.

Most dealers are willing to go lower on custom orders because they don't tie up any of their floor cost. You order, it arrives, you pick it up. No holding costs involved, so they are saving that money which nets them a few dollars. There are also incentives for total number of units sold which may be better than the profit on an individual sale, so they shoot for that incentive from Chrysler rather than trying to make it off each sale. When you add TreadLightly into the equation, they aren't LOSING any money giving you that 2% because Chrysler is reimbursing them for it.

It's all a shell game. For every discount we know about, there is something else that we DON'T know about where they are making money (I.e. Financing, warranties, etc.). I understand that they all need to make money, but they wouldn't make the deal if they were TRULY losing money, no matter what they might say to your face.

However, I am not in the business nor have I ever been. This is just what I've learned over the years buying cars. I may just be deluding myself into thinking I've gotten good deals.

I'll be paying invoice, minus 5%, minus holdback (~$1,000) plus taxes, title, registration and plate.

Please provide the name of the Michigan dealer giving you such a great deal. That will absolutely pay for a plane ticket for me to come out and get the same deal, probably even a deal close to yours would be worth the trip.

I think everybody here would be in for this deal ! We could group rent the plane to get us there. :)

Just got my order in, very glad I didn't go with that initial price as I ended up about $1400 better.

2015 JKU - Willys Wheeler - ANVIL
23W - 6 spd Manual
Prem Soft Top
Supp Airbags
Alpine Premium Audio

Sticker: $34,880
Vehicle Cost: $31,477

OTD in VA: $33,404

Now the waiting game begins...trying NOT to spend all that savings on the spreadsheet of items I've come across from this forum.. haha

2016 Wrangler Unlimited Hard Rock order

True Car, Edmunds.com and KBB local market price history is helpful. I negotiated using pricing data and ended up at 45014.00 OTD, about 1000.00 below TRUE CAR and about 3020.00 below MSRP. Apparently, Hard Rocks are scarce in this market, they are gone immediately, so negotiating below TRUE CAR, etc. was tough. Per sales history data, my build/sold order price is classified as a "great price". Now, the waiting for my Hydro Blue Pearl HARD ROCK will be tough, but I ordered it just the way I wanted it.:iamhappy

Great deals , have you tried Carmax for a quote on the 12 though? It takes about 45 mins and no pressure. They may pleasantly surprise you. I think best deal is if you're running a stock setup

Okay, this is almost certainly a newb question, but... The dealer gave me the printout for my ordered Willys. It has (in descending order) the MSRP, the FWP (final working price?), the FFP (friends and family price), and the EP (employee price). How does invoice match up with those numbers?

#24 ·
Invoice = FWP.

:)

Invoice = FWP. :)
Thanks.

Then I got 2014 invoice price on the 2015 order for a Willys Wheeler. I probably had less wiggle room than most, manual transmission, windows, and locks, and the premium soft top as the only upgrade. Plus, the vehicle I traded in I left there the day we ordered because I wasn't sure it would make it home and back, so I know he wasn't going to make up anything on the front by low-balling my trade.

That said, I hate negotiating. Those of you that are good at it, I hope you do better.

Took my '13 Rubi Unl to CarMax rather than trading it in. They gave me $33k.

Just picked up a '15 Rubi Unl
manual
max tow
alpine

stickered $37k
Invoice was $34
paid $32,684
At a dealer in NoVA

Also was able to get financing at 2.16% which I was impressed with.

23r package on mine.
I am not a fan of mopar rails or slush mats. I didn't care for the plastic "armor" from mopar either on the 2013.

I picked up ace rails and haven't decided on mats yet because the sub is in the floor. I will probably do a steel or aluminum stamp for the armor under the front bumper.

As for the red striping, I have the top an doors off too much not to have seat covers.

But all of that is personal preference.

As for your price, it really depends on your location. My '13 I wasn't happy with the price I paid. Here in NoVA we have quite a few dealers that compete with each other and most going off volume rather than margin here.

If you haven't picked it up and can wait go tread lightly. If your impatient try doing an e-price. Also mention you have an employee discount, the e-price was actually better than the family discount on mine.

Surprisingly enough, 2 weeks ago my '15 was significantly cheaper than '14s around here.

Honestly if you can go 1% or so on invoice and have a final acceptable OTD that you can live with, under $37 for your package is a good price. If you want to accessorize the jeep yourself, you can get into a rubi for less and then spend the excess on toys for it. If you want a solid jeep that has a lot of extras with little hassle its a good deal.

I hope that helps.

I agree.
For this area, its hard to beat the price car max will give for a vehicle in good shape.
My '13 rubi unl had 16k on it and was in close to excellent shape.
The dealer gave a verbal of $26.5 k. They openly admitted they couldnt compete on price.

As a sidenote, the '13 rubi wasn't heavily modified. Rock rails, lights, door guards, fuel door, mats. I am sure more mods would have affected the price.

I paid $35317, OTD (including tax and plate transfer) for my '15 4 Door Willys Wheeler W in White with the 6 speed. I added the Uconnect 430, Alpine System and hardtop as the only options. This price was the best I could find within 60 miles of my house, as well as checking with several large dealers within a 150 mile radius.
