trade

hi, got 16.5k trade for 07jk 2 dr, new 12jk 26,5k had to pay 10k
with my trade no dealer fees, plus florida sales tax $600, tag $200,
out the door 10,800 to move up 5 years, felt is was a good deal,
the dealer was in Ft.Lauderdale, fl. Massy-Yardley jeep.
could have ran all over town to save a few $$ but not worth the effort!
the jeep was ordered the color and equpt i wanted, less than 1 hour to order
less than 1 hour to pick up 7 wee4ks later...PRICELESS!!

MSRP including $900 delivery charge thing: $31400
Invoice price approx. 30200
Actual price after TL + USAA buying service with 1% off invoice and $1000 flat discount off (no longer available on Wrangler) approx. $28900 about 4.3% below invoice
Actual price OTD with TTL + trade + down + $50 doc fee $30546 @ 4.49% through my Credit Union

The dealer wouldn't combine the 1% TL and the 1% USAA. I brought paperwork for both however so I'm not sure exactly which they used or if they combined them in some way anyway. Reason I say that is I know TL affiliate discount only allows the $50 doc fee which I was charged but I don't know if the USAA services limits fees to that. I just know that's the only fee that was tacked on. Either way, I was happy. I seriously doubt I could have gotten them to or below 4.3% below invoice on my own.

Okay, I have the USAA quote, but I also wanted to use, as a military retiree, the $500 military discount. Does that apply to retirees, or to active duty only?

Thanks in advance,

Dealer incentives: Simoniz clear coat, free tires for life, 0% for 36 mo.

MSRP = $36,960
Paid = $34,560 OTD

Initially I drove an hour to a dealership that I heard good things about, and was this close *puts two fingers together* to making a deal, but they wouldn't budge $25/mo lower on their payment. We walked out after 2 hours, and boy am I glad I did!

Papa's Dodge is 5 minutes from my house. Went there the next day and told them we had a deal on the table at another dealer, and I told Papa's that I wanted to give their dealership an opportunity to "earn my business," because they were local, in my community, coombayah, etc. etc. I was there for 10 minutes, and my guy came back with an offer. His first offer completely blew me away, it was about $75/mo less than the original deal I was trying to negotiate at the other place. It couldn't have worked out any better.

Apparently, Papa's is the highest volume Jeep dealer in CT so they are just interested in moving another unit. Overall, I'm happy with the deal and the rig I ordered, so that's all that matters.

Good luck with yours!

~cheers
Went to Papa's from RI this past Saturday and my wife bought a new Jeep from Jeromy. I had contacted him about a new wrangler and then we asked about that as well, he gave us very good prices on both before we even left our house and they were reasonable with our trade in. They were easy to work with and it was the best car buying experience I have had. Never felt pressured, and I really enjoyed checking out the classics while waiting for things to get finalized. Can't say enough about this dealer. Sticker on the Liberty was 28815 and we payed under 24k before taxes and trade with an affiliate discount.

I'm gonna warn you on this one, not to deter you by any means btw. But be aware when you get it back stateside most states are gonna make you pay sales tax on it. Now the trick is, you do not have to pay the sales tax on what you pay AAFES regardless of what the lady behind the DMV desk tells you. What you do is once you pick it up from the port, get an appraisal done on the Jeep before taking it to the DMV to get the stateside title and registration. Will save you a ton of money.

How do I know this? That Jeep in my avatar was also purchased by one of AAFES promotions back in 2001. And unfortunately a Senior Airman paycheck wasn't ready for the sales tax thing when I got to Arkansas 3 years later. Figured I'd warn ya so you can hopefully not get the shock at the DMV that I got.

Enjoy though. The AAFES rep was very helpful with that order, and they actually got the Jeep to me about 2 months after I ordered it. Manufacture date was 2 weeks after I ordered it. I always thought that was neat that it was made just for me. lol
