Oh and I have a 2011 JKU Rubicon.

The 2011's had just started hitting the lots and so 2010's were obviously on sale.

Sticker on the 2010 was 38,xxx and we were walking out the door for around 30k ish, I forget exact numbers and I'm not stepping on a snake to go look in the Jeep right now.

2 days later the 2010's dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and she never started again. A week after they came to the base and towed her back to the dealer, they called me to tell me they had a 2011 in the same color with all the same options ready for me to come pick up with all the same #'s we'd agreed on.... Needless to say...

Mine is a 2010 Mango Tango Mountain Edition I got for 26k in Sept of 2011 with 7k on it...

Thought that wasn't to bad of a deal. I think I was lucky the Chevrolet dealer had it since it was just traded and not been transferred to the Jeep dealer next door.

Looking at buying this Jeep from local dealer.New 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara For Sale in Orland Park IL | 1C4BJWEG2CL241334.

I don't want the Nav and it doesn't come with the soft-top too. They said they would come 500.00 on invoice because I didn't want the Nav.

Invoice is 35,000.00

Sorry newbie here. I do have 1% under invoice through my employer.

Ok, I think I will stick my nose out there. First off I don't think this is a useless thread. I have enjoyed it.
I ordered a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited.
Flame Red
Black Trim & Dark Saddle Seat Color
4.10 Rear Axle Ratio
5 sp Auto
Remote Start
730N Media center w/Nav (yes I do like toys)
Leather Trim Seats (I like comofrt too)
AC w/Auto Temp Control (Yep, as above)
Supp Front Seat Air Bag (Want to be as safe as possible too)
Black 3-Piece Hard Top
Connectivity Group
Max Tow Package
MSRP: $40,300
Invoice:$37,707
Paid $250 over invoice
I did not know about Tread Lightly. I may have gotten a better price, but would have lost $$ on my trade. I think I did well for where I live. I have 3 dealers within two hours of my home (Folsom, CA, Carson City, NV and Reno, NV). For me, having a good relationship with my dealer/shop is important. I do all my service work at the dealer. It's just me. So, for part of the choice is what is the drive time/road conditions like to the dealer.

Since this thread was very helpful in my negotiations, I'll throw in my info.

2012 Sport S purchased off the lot on Feb 29th
Connectivity Group
Dual Top
Power Convenience Group
Trac-Lok limited Slip
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows
SiriusXM

MSRP: $28,575
Calculated Invoice: $27,362
Paid: $26,200 with 0% financing for 36 months through Ally inclusive of dealer fees and excluding tax, title, and registration.

That works out to a little better than 4% under invoice. I did use the Chrysler Affiliates program through my employer.

Honestly, that looks identical to what we purchased, except for the matching color hard top and rims. Not sure that is worth an extra $4,000.

Thanks to all the help on the forum as I just ordered my new Jeep. Next 6-8 weeks are gonna take forever...

2012 Jeep Unlimited Sahara Bright White w/matching hard top
Auto
3.73
Track-lock Anti Slip
Black Leather w/Heated Seats
Connectivity Group
Remote Start
And they are powdercoating the Rims for me.

MSRP: 37430.00
Paid: 33800.00 w/Rims powdercoated

Now I have to find a soft top as I couldn't justify 1600.00 for one.

What you do is once you pick it up from the port, get an appraisal done on the Jeep before taking it to the DMV to get the stateside title and registration. Will save you a ton of money.

How do I know this? That Jeep in my avatar was also purchased by one of AAFES promotions back in 2001. And unfortunately a Senior Airman paycheck wasn't ready for the sales tax thing when I got to Arkansas 3 years later. Figured I'd warn ya so you can hopefully not get the shock at the DMV that I got.

Enjoy though. The AAFES rep was very helpful with that order, and they actually got the Jeep to me about 2 months after I ordered it. Manufacture date was 2 weeks after I ordered it. I always thought that was neat that it was made just for me. lol
Correct, I am aware of the sales tax. Wouldn't it be the same as if i bought it from the dealer though?

eg, I am quoted at 28,798 for JKUS 24S, Auto, 3.73, dual top
This does not include TTL. Let's say that's $2000 from the DMV.

If I got it instead directly from a dealer instead of AAFES, wouldn't it still be $2000 as taxes??

Well, don't know if this counts, but after trading my CJ and wife's TJ in for a 2008 JK x package with half doors last month, I ended up paying $10,200. They wanted to deal hard since no one wanted the jeep 'cause it had half doors...and that's the only way my wife will own one. They were asking $20,900, gave me $8700 for my CJ and TJ, and paid the remaining $2000 owed on my Grand Cherokee to sweetin the deal. I pay tax, title, and transfer out of pocket. I live in northern PA.

I'm just curious, why would you have lose money on your trade if you had used tread lightly? That should not have any effect.

That is a horrible financial decision. I guess it is a good way to get your credit better, but it cost you 5k to do so.

I did a high interest rate on a $5000 motocycle while at tech, but it was on 5k not 20. Hopefully it all works out

Must be nice to get these deals for under invoice!

MSRP on mine was $36,635. I wound up twisting arms and pulling teeth and couldn't get the stealership to sink lower than $35,000 on it.

I wound up paying $37010 including T&T. According to KBB, a "fair deal" was $35,426 or something (not including T&T). While I didn't get ripped, I didn't get the deal of the century, either.

It was on the dealer website for a little under $22,000. It was 1 of 2 2010 models still on the lot in June of 2011. It is a base model but hay, a 4 door for less than 22k, what more could I ask for!!!
