I'll make all you guys suddenly feel much better. We are paying $ 47,000. for a 2013 JKU Sport with a hard top and 24S option package. no fancy paint, no Sat radio, no hood insulation. Stock four door Wrangler.

Vehicles have to be loaded on a ship in Miami and it takes them three days to get down here, roughly. We shipped a Ford Expedition a few years back, it was $900 inside a container, so that isn't too bad. But then we pay import duty here, which is horrible. Not sure what it is on the vehicles right now, it used to be a percentage based upon engine size. Right now I think it's about 46% on top of the base price, transportation, and all the fees, taxes, insurance, dealer crap etc.

Do you feel better?

How bout if I tell you gasoline runs around $ 5 a gallon at the moment, but it's been up near $ 7.

How bout now?

I have not ordered this one yet. I have a Request for Bids out due by February 8. Here are the specifications:

2013 jeep Rubicon 2 door
24R package 3.6L V6 with a automatic transmission
Bright White Exterior
Black/dark saddle cloth interior
Black 3 piece hard top
Deep tint sunscreen windows
Power Convenience Group
Connectivity group
Air Conditioning w/ Auto Temp Control
Trailer Tow Group
4.10 Rear Axle Ratio
Engine Block Heater

The MSRP on this Jeep is 35,940

I have received a few bids back and the best out the door price so far is 3K less than MSRP (includes the Tread Lightly Program). I will then pay the $300 SC sales tax and $25 license fee and walk it through DMV.

I have been simply amazed at the "doc Fees" some Dealers will add. Some will not allow me the option to do my own registration. I have received a lower price on the raw vehicle but due to the additional fees they are not competitive. It is interesting that all Dealers do not charge the same fee for the "paperwork" and some charge nothing. I am not sure if these additional fees are negotiable or not. I have not tried to negotiate at all yet.

I plan to shortlist by the raw vehicle cost as well as the "out the door" cost to determine if there is enough difference to try and negotiate the additional fees or just work with those who do not charge the extras.

I agree. We had the Chrysler Affiliates program at work. Went to the dealer to order and the price was ok. Called my old dealer in VA. They had basically the same car in stock for $1,500 less. No pressure to buy anything "extra" and no hassle. Not all dealers are created equal. First dealer was honest b/c he showed me Chrysler price in his system. He just wasn't as motivated as VA dealer.

Sport w/ 3.73, anti-spin and hard top. Sticker 280xx paid 259xx less 1000 Jeep bonus cash certificate I got in the mail = 249xx + tax. Paid cash. Oh yeah - then I bought a set of ATX artillery and General Grabbers for 16xx.

Paid $22000 for a 2012 JK sport with a/c. Wasn't the greatest deal but it was what I wanted. Didn't need all the bells and whistles.
