Question What does this button do?

Seriously, I have no idea what it's supposed to do. I clicked it, and the same design appeared on my dash near the rpm gauge and it flashed a few times & disappeared.

http://db.tt/1Wu86bXz

(it's a 2012 wrangler unlimited. Sahara)

The button looks like a car going downhill with an rpm gauge on top of it, and an arrow pointing at it

I have no idea. I've never seen a red X button on a Wrangler before.

I'm gonna guess Hill Descent Assist. But check your manual. =)

I believe that is downhill assistance. If you are going down a hill, you can press that and it will upshift to keep your speed under control down a hill rather than having to brake. Give it a try and let us know if that's what it is.

That would be the hill descent control button.

the cruise control on my 2010 sport does a pretty decent job of having the same effect

EDIT- read that link zarkstrife posted, hill decent is for offroading... if you want to maintain speed going downhill on the street, use cruise control.

It sets the RPM, for backing back up the hill, you shouldn't have started down !

It is the hill descent button, only works when in 4L. Won't flash when used then.

Don't listen to any of these people, who are pranking you. It's a "Self-Destruct" feature, which is a throw-back to the old Willys Jeeps. It is designed to use only when your are being overrun by a German or Japanese rifle company. It will only work when certain of your Jeep components have been compromised by small-arms projectiles. Then, when you activate it, a chime will ring and say "Get out of the vehicle NOW!!!" Then, 30 seconds later, it will violently explode, taking many of the hostiles with it. If you engage this option in more peaceful circumstances, it supposedly will help you descend down an incline without smashing into the bottom of a ravine. Never press a button unless you know what it can do.

The least Chrysler could do is change it to a Jeep icon now that the 2012's don't have the Mini-Van motor any longer!

well then... let's get a lift kit, big tires, winch and bumper for the minivan. I've got 2 extra car seats in case anyone else wants to take the toddlers up Central City and do some real off roading. We know the engine will hold up just fine.

You evidently have the model that has the flux capacitor installed. When rolling down hill at exactly 88 mph when pressed applies one point twenty-one jigaWatts of power to the flux capacitor and that is what powers the time machine. You are then able to travel in time. I wish I could have ordered that feature back in 2008.

Hi JIMBO

Obama wins decisively, the dem's sweep in both houses and the congressional constipation has been solved. I can't say yet if it was for better or not though, I didn't spend enough time in the future.

Did you see the episode of Top Gear where the guys wheel their minivans to the Continental Divide?

I suppose the French should've had this feature.
