What is everyone paying for their 2012's?

I'm looking at getting back into the Jeep scene and looking at the 2012 Sahara and Rubicons 2 doors. Don't care for the Unlimited as it doesn't feel like a Jeep to me. Want dual top group, no nav, auto, bluetooth, possible leather, temp control, tow, heated seats. I'm wondering what people are getting, percentage-wise, off MSRP. Looking like many of my local dealers are advertising around 8-10% off. Anyone been able to negotiate a smoking deal?

Haven't had a Jeep since my 62 Willys back in the 70s. Rented a 2011 down in Tampa while on vacation and my wife got hooked! Gotta get one soon while she's still enthused!

Thanks in advance.

1%-2% under invoice seems to be the going rate.
Join Tread Lightly or check with your employer to see if you are an affiliate.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did look into that some time back. $60 membership fee for tread lightly if I remember correctly. I do know my employer is not an affiliate. What's the best reference for invoice numbers?

Thanks again.

usnews

Google is a wonderful thing. I did a quick search and found USNews 2012 Jeep Wrangler Prices: What Others Paid | U.S. News Best Cars and it seems pretty comprehensive. What would Tread Lightly do on top of this?

That probably included people using Tread Lightly. TL means that you are guaranteed to start at 1% below invoice. It is possible to get to the same price without TL, but it takes some of the back and forth out of the negotiations. Pat here does a flat, no haggle 2% below invoice if you have an affiliate discount.

My 2012

I bought a 2012 Wrangler 2 door Sport (base model) in flame red with A/C, 6 speed, hard top only, and 3.73 and paid 22,300 plus tax, title and doc prep. I used USAA for pricing. I did take a beating on my trade, but the dealershop now has the POS Silverado I traded in.

A lot to like and I haven't found anything I dislike or even find annoying. The engine and 6 speed make a great combo. The motor runs like a watch. No vibration and quiet. My first new vehicle since 1989

Didn't think about USAA for pricing. They saved me about 50% on my auto insurance over Allstate! Thanks, I'll check it out.

Just an FYI. USAA uses the same configuration pricing app that USNews uses (link above) but I was able to get a $1000 USAA incentive! Scott, I owe you a beer or three!

I'm laughing, you don't think the Unlimited feels like a jeep but you want leather, NAV, bluetooth and heated seats. You're right that sounds like the jeeps I remember.

Hmm only shows the $1000 USAA incentive for 2011 when I looked. TL still gave me a lower price in my zipcode

LOL, I get you. I laugh too but I'm not 16 anymore, I like the creature comforts. In all honesty I want a convertible SUV. What my other choice, a Murano CrossCabriolet? WTF is that ugly $45K POS? You have to admit that a 2 door handles and "feels" completely different than a 4 door. I have a 2009 Subaru Tribeca Limited now and sorry but the 2012 Unlimited doesn't even come close to ride, handling, utility. Obviously they are completely different purposes but for MY purposes, the 2 door is the only one. I completely understand the 4 door and started out looking that way but until I did a 24 hour test drive with the unlimited did I realize it wasn't for me. Not to say it isn't for some but just not for me.

Oh, really? I'm sorry too, because that statement is absolutely ridiculous and will not sit well with many 2012 Unlimited owners here.... Like me.

I wouldn't trade any number of your silly little Subaru soccer mom SUVs for any one Wrangler of any year or description. You might be looking at the wrong vehicle. Why don't you take a look at Consumer Reports and see what they recommend. You wouldn't want to take any chances.

Notice he did not say "off road ability"
that's what the jeep is built for.

Most other SUV's are going to have better street manners. I don't drive a 4 door but the poster saying that another vehicle has better street manners is fine with me.

Exactly my point. The Unlimited was a great vehicle and a lot of fun to drive. For the person that wants the extra room for family and cargo but wants to be able to put the top down and possibly go off-road there is no other choice. I don't have those requirements anymore as my kids are grown and it's typically me and my wife. The chances of me ramming through the woods in a thirty-some thousand dollar truck are slim. If that's what I was looking for I would get a 2006 Rubi and have at it, something I considered. The two door has more of the "feel" that my Willys had with the top down and doors off while the creature comforts, power, handling and improved on-road manners allow me to enjoy the 99.98% of the driving I will do. I didn't mean to offend anyone's choice because it's just that, their choice. That's why they make so many different Wranglers!

I paid 3.2% under invoice with USAA/Zag pricing and got mid range KBB for my trade with 1.89% financing for 60 months from Bank of Scamerica. Only reason I bought one.
