What is Katzkin Leather Seats?

While doing a preliminary build for my Jeep the website presents 3 different choices for leather seats: Leather Bucket, Leather Bucket and Katzkin Leather. The first 2 choices are around 900 bucks but the Katzkin is around 1500 bucks. Can someone tell me what the difference is? Please don't say 600 bucks

Katzkin is a company that sells aftermarket leather interiors for cars. I have them in my Camaro SS and they are great qualty. They allow some customization to them. I have charcol seats with light gray middles. I assume the first two options are from Jeep, and the Katzkin is aftermarket. Not sure if it is worth that much to you, but they are great quality.

Jeep gives you a choice of Two Tone Saddle or Black. Katzkin gives you hundreds of combinations to personalize your leather choices. Check out Katzkin :: Interior Selector. The leather from Jeep is installed at the factory. I believe the leather from Katzkins is installed at the dealership after it has been built and delivered to them.

Thanks Red. Actually all three choices are on the Jeep Website. I sort of figured that the Katzkin's were an aftermarket choice but I was curious as to why they were showing up on the Jeep site. It's probably because of the customizable feature that you mention along with the higher quality.

It's a higher quality leather - similar to what you find in the Grand Cherokee; much nicer than. BTW, don't pay $1500. I had Katzkin installed for $900 from the dealer when I bought mine JK this summer; and, that included getting the middle portion of the seats in perforated leather.

I have all black Katzkin leather seats in my 2012 JK. They came heated as well. The dealer wanted $1,200.00 extra, but I negotiated them in on the deal. They are very nice seats. They took the seats out and recovered them (outside vendor from the dealer). It took two days.

Here are 2 photos of the Katzkin in my 2012. Black leather was not an option when I ordered mine, so I ordered my Jeep with cloth and went with the Katzkin through the dealer. The leather is nice. You can option heat or lumbar support too if you wish. I had heat installed at the factory, so I skipped that option.

Ignore the wrinkled leather in the back seat of the second photo. I just removed my grand-daughters car seat. The wrinkles aren't normally there.

It is not red. I'm not sure if it was called maroon, but it was the color option that came the closest to matching the Deep Cherry Red of my Jeep.

I didn't use the Katzkin online configuration tool. The dealership had a ton of leather swatches to pick from.

Katzkins makes great quality coverings. I had em in my 06, and I wish that's what was on my '11.

Have them put in my 2010 aftermarket. Black with white stitching. Nice quality and very comfortable. Here's a pic I posted previously showing the Tuffy console, but you can see the seats in it.

Factory orders from mid January on with the Katzkin option is factory installed. I ordered a JKU Sahara with the Katzkin option as indicated on the Jeep website (code AJC) and they confirmed it is now a factory installed option.

So, if my build sheet says cloth, and we have leather, then that means they are Katzkin, right?

That is what seems to be the case, but I'm going to look them over good see if I can find a clue somewhere.
Here's what it says on the build sheet.....

*B7 Gray Cloth Low-Back Bucket Seats
-DD Dk Slate Gray/Med Slate

At the same time I wondering about this -DD Dk code thing and is that just the code for the cloth color or what?

How much did it cost you??
Did you use Standard Kit or Premium Kit Leather (see picture for reference)
I am assuming heather options are for driver and passenger side.
I am going with similar setup (ALL BLACK) with heathers and Premium leather and cost is $1750 INSTALLED
