What Is This For?

So I have been wondering what is this for the past week since I bought the Jeep (2010 JKU Sahara). I'm asking about the USB-sized opening next to the overdrive button by the automatic shifter (I know what the O/D button is for).

Is this the way is should be or is there a cover for it (It just looks like something is missing)? If so, anyone know the part number for it?

Thanks.

Looking at pics there should definately be a piece of plastic that goes in there. Might take going to the stealership to get that piece though.

I would guess its the tranny "unlock" port. Many newer vehicles have this. Hope I never need to see how it works. It should have a cover.

Page 284 of your owners manual. It's the Brake/transmission interlock Manual Override. You Know how you have to press the brake pedal to start the engine or move the gear selector out of park? This is called an interlock and sometimes they fail. This bypasses the interlock so you can start your Jeep and drive to the dealership to have it fixed... and buy an owners manual.
