What is your commute like in your JK?

Last year I was driving 60 miles (round trip) for work to the office. I only worked part time, and I am glad I did not buy a JK a few years ago because I was doing 16k miles/year for about 3 years straight. But now my commute is only 6 miles round trip! I just have to hit one back road and I am there. So I am thinking a 2012 JK is in order. I need the ruggedness because sometimes I need to go off road for work (I mainly do environmental noise control) which means I am in the woods a lot. I also need to get places at a moments notice, even in winter and cannot have snow stop me like it did last year. Having a RWD BMW was a tragedy last year here in Massachusetts.

Anyone else get a JK because of work? How many miles a day do you put on it? Might be just what I am looking for as I spend a lot of time in Cape Cod as well.

I currently have a 20 mile round trip commute, but as of the middle/end of febuary it will be going up to a 60+ mile round trip... Not really looking forward to it, but i guess I'll just have to wait and see how my TJ likes it...

Hey a fellow Masshole hahaha. I drive about 60 miles a day round trip in mine from Dracut, MA to Everett, MA. Mainly highway but I take it easy on the gas plus I drive a manual so I get pretty good MPG for a JK, about 24.

Mine was Franklin to Sudbury. Could not take it anymore so I moved to Framingham! 24 is pretty good.

My poor jk doesn't get driven much. I have a truck for work, so my jk gets about 50 miles a week at most. I've had it for 4 months now and it only has 1800 miles on it.

Damn you!!!!!

My commute is 56 miles each way. However I only drive the first 14 miles of it (I take a commuter bus the rest of the way). My JK does just fine on my 28 mile round trip of pure highway miles per day. It always puts a smile on my face when I climb in after a long work day

32.3 miles door to door...... mostly state road, a few red lights once I pass I95. its not too mad, basically a straight shot. although the foggy mornings and the morons thinking they are NASCAR drivers drafting inches off my bumper occasionally make it sucky.

I drive ~15 miles (round trip) for work on suburban roads. Since I got my 2012 JK Sport last September, my CTS has cob webs on it. Try driving the new Wrangler, you'll be amazed at the ride. Underneath it is still every bit a Jeep, but now they are comfortable on the road.

Last time I drove one was an '09 2-dr Sport S. I recall the ride was bumpy to say the least. Suspension changes for '12?

Merrimack NH to Tyngsboro MA about 1/2 hr on the highway, 45 minutes if its nice out and I take the scenic route, which I seem to be doing more now that I purchased my Jeep.

17.5 miles each way.
I'm taller than 97% of the other vehicles out there and share 8-9 waves each way with my fellow commuting Jeepers.
I have decent tunes and arguably the most capable production vehicle on the road.

It's the best commute ever!

My commute is 25 miles each way. A couple back-country roads, one 4-lane state route, and a 6-lane interstate.

The best part of commuting in a Jeep has always been the ability to take shortcuts if need be. I've turned around in the median of the highway many times if traffic has backed up because of an accident, and one of the only production vehicles that I can climb up over a curb if needed.

My commute is anywhere between 8 and 12 miles one way, depending if I take the highway or the more scenic routes.

Or if you have time and are bored go off road for a bit. My commute is only 10 miles so I don't mind it but I regularly do 5 hour trips and I still don't mind making it a little longer. I have to drive through national forests in Vermont, why not utilize some of the trails

The ride has gotten a lot smoother for the new Wranglers, I have people at my work with the TJ, and the older JK. Someone who had the TJ wanted to try my JK and they didn't like it because it seemed too smooth for them. So yeah maybe they did change it.

Yeah, don't you just hate that crap. If they're in such a damn rush, leave earlier.

16 miles each way along the lakeshore. Its still commuting but being in my Jeep makes it just fine. Some reggae vibes on the Ipod and hot Ethiopian coffee in the mug and I'm ready to take on the world.

Side note, I work for myself and since its 60 degrees in January..IN CLEVELAND, I took the afternoon off to get a nice road ride in on the bike today. Drove home with the sunrider and windows open...in January, IN CLEVELAND!!!! Woohoo!

30 miles round trip from Yonkers to downtown Manhattan, via the West Side Highway or FDR....once off those highways, the driving terrain can be just as bad, or good??, as being off road.....what I like to call...urban crawling!!

Hopefully, I will retire at the end of Feb, and maybe ride with Jimbox in his "chopper"
