I think there are several very good tires in the same class. I think most are getting the Duratracs not only because they are getting good reviews but because of their looks. There just isn't any other aggressive AT's out there that looks as good as a Duratrac. They just look like a MT

The only thing I don't like about 16 & 17" wheels is I've heard the class D and E tires are a fairly stiff/rough ride. It's hard enough to find D's, and it seems like most of what I find in 16 & 17 for the appropriate widths/sidewall height is all E load ratings. Have to go 15's to get a class C.

I've heard that too. My tires are E-rated, and I honestly have zero problems with the ride. However, my advice is probably somewhat tainted by the fact that I probably wouldn't notice the difference between an E-rated tire and a C-rated tire if I drove em back-to-back.

Not built that way, I guess.

It's a jungle out there-

I have a 5000 + lb JKUR and I couldn't care less about range "C" tires my "D" range Hankooks have been to 5 psi and perform flawlessly-so

If you think you need load range "C"--

GOOD LUCK

STT's have a great rep for holding up, both treadwear and puncture resistance.

Duratracs == the holy grail. Good in mud and with a snowflake? Puh-leeze. Doesn't get any better than that.

Are you in the mountains in winter? That can change the equation a bit. If you are considering dedicated summer/winter tires, maybe a straight MT for summer use and AT or snow tire for winter use.

Ive had Duratracs on my Tacoma for 2 winters now. havnt failed me yet. Awesome on snow and ice. Off road a lot and have also performed great. I'm not really a 'mudder' so no advice on that.

I just put them on my YJ today.

More of a concern with a lighter "non modded" Tj.
Had a set of MTRK's on my Tj.
The ride was horrible. They used the original MTR's on the TJR and some complained of the rougher ride.
I actually traded mine for a set of duratracs.
I needed a C, he needed an E.
Perfecto-we both win

load E is a heavier tire, load D is not as bad. Either seems fine on a Jk for what I've been reading
