Lol. Starbucks at a jeep dealership? I thought that was only at Audi and the like. It's not bad IMHO. As long as you used to or have done them, man law protects you from ridicule. Ha

When I brought mine in I had an appointment and it took 20 minutes. That's how long it took me to just drive to the parts store and back! Missed my jog that time but I will make up for it!

Mobil1 5-20 in 2013, 5-30 in 2012. They suggest in manual oil specs, but don't say HAVE TOO or else. Use it in all my vehicles and just change at 5000 miles. If goes over a little no big deal.

Go figure.

I am with Mobil 1.
If Amsoil wasn't that big of a pain in the ass to get, I would be with them.

AMSOIL for me. Costs about twice as much as other oils but it lasts 12 months. Oh, and it's the best oil out there so why would you use anything else?

FWIW Amsoil isn't a pain to get anymore. Buy it online instead of from a dealer.

Valvoline Nextgen (I got several jugs for free after rebate from advance auto parts over the summer). It meets the MS-6395 standard and I like that it's 50% recycled oil.

Wix filters.

There was a test done somewhere done by quakerstate that listed the oil based on different factions like durability, protection, and the lasting of detergents of different brand oils. Someone find it.

If I remember correctly, valvoline was at the top.

I still use Mobil 1 high mileage 10w-30. 339,300 miles and counting.

I have a 2011 JK with the 3.8 penstar and it uses 6qts of 5w20 conventional oil. I have been going between peak and castrol both have been fine, other question what type oil filter does every one use? I've seen a lot of posts about staying away from Fram, I have used pureolator and its been fine but I did try a Bosch filter and I think it was better but it was also 11 bucks for it vs the 3 for the pureolator. Lol. About to roll 30,000miles on the Jeep and oil change coming up.

I used a boesh filter the last change. I mean, it's an oil filter.

Yeah that's kinda how I see it but for one to be 3 bucks and another jumps to 11 when in the long run they do the same thing, just curious what I'm getting for the extra 8 bucks lol

Cut one of each open after use...BIG difference, I used to be a Fram guy till I did that, now its WIX or Napa Gold (Which is WIX)

and it isn't the best oil out there. It's one of the best, but at twice the price and it's harder to find. There are plenty of UOAs that show other oils doing as well or better. Pennzoil Ultra, for example.

Do you guys experience this?

I hang "Peej" from the ceiling and drain the Mobil 1 out through the filler. I get all six quarts out that way.

I know, I know...picture or it didn't happen, so here it is...

2010 3.8. Penzoil Ultra and K&N or Mobil one filter. I just started using the larger filter off the 3.7 jeep liberty engine too. Part # HP 2009 for k&N

I use Valvoline Synpower Full Synthetic in everything. I always buy my cars new and start Synpower at the first oil change.

I installed an aftermarket turbo running 12 psi of boost on my 93 Miata in about 1997. The car had at 75K miles. Today, at 171K miles, the car does not smoke and still has good oil pressure. The lower end has never been apart. And it still runs like a bat out of somewhere hot.

At 122K miles, the Honda Element I just traded in to get the JK was still going 10K miles between oil changes without needing to add oil. (10K is the factory recommended interval) No smoking, ran great.

Assuming it meets the warranty requirements (I'll check when the time rolls around) I'll stick with it for the Jeep I just got.

just to stir the pot, do any of you know what the "numbers" mean, 0-20, 5w-20, 5w-30,10w-30 etc. do your homework. part of the answer is, temperature invironment, V I improvers.
I have used AMSOIL since 1974. my wife DEMANDS that I put it into her vehicles. she always gets better gas mileage with it. just saying.

How do you know you get better gas mileage with it if it's all you ever use?

I have a buddy who owns a shop and he's got cutaways of various oil filters. Some have a lot more media (pleats) than others. Some are obviously made better.

This applies to the 3.8 filters, not the cartridge filters on the 3.6

It seems relevent to point out that Advance Auto currently has a buy one get one free sale on Castrol Edge and Edge w/ Titanium when bought online. Full case comes out to about $55 with pickup at the store down my street.

Even the cartride filters, go with good ones, the cheaper filter elements will litterally turn to goo and fall apart in time, not good for small oil passages inside the motor...

Liar, Liar. That picture tripped you up. Anyone knows you can't drain the oil like that with the hood closed.
