Hello all!

This is my first post here and I am hoping to get some great ideas for my rig on this post.

I would like to hear what performance parts you would put in your rig if you had 5k laying around:D I do not want to buy a 2012 so please do not suggest that :banghead:

I have already added on some KC fog lights, and the Mopar cold air intake but I am looking for more performance as far as horsepower and mpgs...

New exhaust maybe, new headers? How about a computer programmer or are those even worth it? I live near 4wheelparts near Seattle and will probably purchase most of my parts from them.

Also if anybody knows of an off roading group near Seattle I would like to go sometime so please let me know!

Thanks!

^^^ Read the link above. That deals with an '11, I believe. Then read this link:

Want 35s dont want to REGEAR ??

The first page-and-a-half or so deals w/the 2012 (3.6L engine), but then gets into the 3.8L models ('07-'11). It's probably gonna make your head spin, but it'll at least give you an understanding of what you'll need to do to wring more power outta your Jeep.

It's not an engine thing. Hate to say it, but your CAI was probably a waste of $$. Many folks on here have tried em; most have gotten rid of em. Not all, of course. There's always somebody who insists their CAI rocks. But the majority of people on here would tell you to spend the money somewhere else.

I am new to all of this obviously:thumb:
So what performance gains would I expect with regearing my Jeep?
Oh yeah, and welcome to WF. :)

buy as much chrome and nos stickers as you can.. it will give you a big jump in HP :D. 30in dubs ftw

Joking Of Course,

WELCOME TO WF :wavey:

Proper regearing will bring your power numbers back to stock.. To give you an idea of what the proper gear ratio is for what tire size you want run here is a chart that gives you an idea of what gear ratio is best for what tire size

Sorry the chart is so small.. I will try to find a bigger one

I will mostly use it as a DD though and then of course while camping, and driving through the mountains here in Washington, and if I can find an offroad group I will be going out with them but I am not interested in putting a lift on it as of now and I will stick with the 33' Rubi tires that it came with for the near future....

Guessing your buying a rubicon then since you metioned rubi tires. The stock 4.10 gearing will be of great help for you off the bat till you eventually go up in tire size and do regear.. I know chips and programers do have a positive effect on the 3.8 but I'll let others with experience with those speak as to what they will do for you..

The first 3 things I would think about is communication (cb radio), Armor (skid plates), and recovery (tow straps with loop ends, after market winch bumpers, winch).

As to a lift I would look into that when you know what tire size your gonna run.. With the JK a 2.5in lift will let you run 35's. You will aslo need to look into wheel spacers or new wheels when going past a tire that is 10.5 inches wide as with the stock rims alone you would rub when turning.

On a armor note.. from what I understand the evap canister on the JK is quite vulnerable and a pretty expensive fix if it is broken.. Look into evap canister skids right away even before you hit the trail

If you don't have a lift, I'd start there.

I paid about $2500 for my Rock Krawler 2.5" Max travel + Bilstein shocks + front drive shaft.

You could definitely get a less expensive lift if you don't wheel much. Other than that, rock rails are essential for any amount of wheeling. You could also do bumpers which is more cosmetic than functional, but adds function too if you get recovery bumpers. Could also throw a winch on the front while you're at it.

Most important for you to decide if looks or functionality are more important. If someone threw me $5K, I'd probably get 35" tires, gears, and lockers...

Thanks Kelsey! I am sure I am in this for more than 5k aftermarket already and if my wife starts asking too many questions then I will tell her to talk to you...lol

XJ I have an 11 Wrangler Mojave edition 2dr that comes with the Rubi tires and 4.10 gears already... Will it make that much of a difference going up to 5.13 gearing?

5.13 gearing is a good choice.. would let you run a wide range of tire sizes and be happy with the performance of your jeep at the same time.. a member here named JIMBOX I think runs 5.13's and 33's.. He might chime in sometime tonight or tommarow
What about a RIPP supercharger?
That will really give you some gains in power.
Yes they are nice but also cost a big chunk of change.. more then the 5k total that kraj is spending

Kelsey is that the Arctic edition? I was going to wait to buy that in a 2dr but the 0% financing and the treadlighty discount made it too tempting on the 11....
Nope just a regular ole '12 Sahara. Got some rubi takeoffs and painted them grey. I went back to the stockers for now since work caused me to start driving some long highway trips. I'll be swapping them out with some AEV pintlers and 33" DT soon.
