Ok, I removed my rear seat as soon as I drove home from the dealer. It sits in a spare bedroom collecting dust.
I was just thinking, should I build a platform for it and turn it into something I would enjoy sitting on in the house for maybe the game room? Or even a nice "couch" for out in the garage? Maybe build a deer blind to put it in? It's really a nice seat and I hate just seeing it sit there and not being used.
What are some ideas you guys have come up with to do with your rear seat after you've removed it?
In my old TJ I pulled the back seat and put it in the garage next to the ping pong table for a seat. It was a little inconient having it sit so low and I always though about building a stand for it to sit on...I am not that handy though. The seat from the new JK is in my spare bedroom covered in a blanket. I am still dreaming that I can find someone to make a frame I can put it on and have a nice benchseat in the mancave.
do exactly as you said get something to sit it on and actually use it... not sure about indoor use, considering it'll sit low, but what about in your garage or backyard patio area? possibly throw some cinder blocks under it with a flat sheet of wood and call it a day...
Or get a stand professionally made or have a friend with handyman knowledge to help and try and set it up somewhere in your home.

Don't throw it away! If it isn't there when you trade the Jeep in you will take abig hit. I kept the one from my 12 JK under a tarp in my tornado room.
I pulled mine out for an upcoming trip this weekend and am loving the new visibility and storage room. I don't want to put it back in, so it's time to dream up a way to store it out in my shop on top of a steel rack that I have to keep it pristine.
Gone but not forgotten: '98 TJ SE - '99 TJ Sahara - '12 JK Arctic
'13 JK Sahara...too many other toys...
I pulled mine the first week I owned my 2012. It sat in the garage for 15 months. I only put it back in once for 1 afternoon. Had it covered with a tarp, no tornadoes, so it didnt get used. I traded the 12 for a 13 Unlimited, forgot the seat was missing. It was the first thing the dealer asked me about. "Where's the seat?" I had to go home and put it in before we closed. It was still pristine. I was surprised how much the front seats faded after only 1 yr.
I have a loft in my place that it will fit perfectly in. As soon as I can get someone to help me get it up there that's where it is going. do you have kids? It would make a great seat for a kids room. I won't be selling mine, on the off chance I trade it for a new one at some point in the future I don't want to take a hit when I sell it.
Mine is in my crawl space covered with plastic. I have a conditioned crawl space so no dirt. I took it out the day I purchased my Jeep. That back seat is absolutely worthless in my opinion. I cannot imagine any adult trying to get in the back seat and it would not be easy even for kids. Plus you have no cargo room with it in. But like others have said, dont get rid of it. If you ever sell or trade in the jeep you will regret it.
