what tools to bring

Ok, I am driving across country in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler and have a small tool box. Any suggestions on what tools I should bring with me. I figured essentials, flat head, phillips screwdriver, hammer, pliers, vice grips, but if anyone else has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

There was another thread on this recently. might want to do a search and see what was stated there.

A flashlight would be handy of course. Do not install the batteries, leave them in their sealed pack. Only install batteries when they are needed and remove them afterwards.
There is a larger set of torq wrenches that advance sells. They fit quite a few things on the jeep. I'd get a set of those. I like to throw in a battery cleaner also.

Spare fuses.

again, in the other thread, there was alot mentioned. I try and bring along stuff that I can use to do minor repairs. Also, I use an SUV jack since I have a lift kit and the standard jack wont touch the Jeep.

Just enough to get me somewhere safe. Anything else needs a pen and checkbook for an automechanic.

Sorry for the double post, I appreciate the help so far though. A couple of items and tips I didn't think about.

Proper 4 way tire iron.

Can't hurt to crack your lugnuts loose then re-tourqe them before you leave so YOU know how tight they are. Never trust shops with air tools to torque them properly.

Tow strap.

I use a CB and leave it on "scan" during interstate trips. Cell phones don't always work in BFE but there is usually a trucker passing by. Eventually.

GPS is helpful for finding gas stations, hospitals etc.
For comfort:

Small pillow and some towels for lumbar support.
CD's to get you through the radio wastelands.

And the basic asprin, tums, benadryl if you have allergies type stuff.

Good luck!
