We drove it home New Year's Eve. After my wife went to bed I stayed up most of the night installing the Metalcrafter's grill insert, Mopar fuel door and pedal extenders that I'd given her for Christmas. I didn't want her to see her brand new Jeep all torn apart so I had to finish what I started before she woke up the next morning.

Thinking back, I guess the very first thing I did, right after our Sahara Tan Sahara was delivered four hundred miles from the Nebraska dealership, was to snap this photo of my wife grinning from ear to ear in the new rig.

drove it 2 hours home and straight to the tire store to get rid of the crappy stock tires. Pulled in just as they were closing but they stayed late to install new rubber.

It was a pretty jumpy ride on the way home, no doubt. Dropping the tire pressure made a world of difference.

I guess they do it because air is free, lol.

Spent 6 hours driving home from the dealer. Yes that is the fastest route. Then went to bed because in the morning I spent 6 hours driving to the dealer. Long day.

Drove home that night, I cracked open a beer, sat on my shop stool, gazed over the jeep for about 20 mins then started making my mod list....

Added black Wrangler decals to the hood along with some other decals on the windows. Added the tail light covers, fuel door cover, steps & hitch.

I'm glad mine had a full tank on pick up day, Cook County is not a place this country boy cares to spend much time in. Country roads take me home!

As soon as the Sales Manager gave me the keys I started unzipping the windows and pulling the top off. I was without a jeep for 5 years, I needed that top off ASAP!

Applied a coat of Turtle Wax to make that Black Baby shine.............Then a decal on both doors stating, high gloss maybe detrimental to your vision, UV protected sunglasses are required! I am not responsible for your vision loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, over confidence in the Rubicon lead to high centered in the mud hole. So, I guess the other first thing I did, was learn the lesson to never wheel alone. Also, notice the dealer tag still on....
