Does it still offer the same 740 nav stereo? I read the sub was different or relocated, this true?

I believe the 740 nav is still available and the subwoofer has been relocated to the trunk floor. This sounds weird but I own a 2015 with the alpine premium system and it's worth the money.

Is there still storage under the cargo area, i.e. places for all the roof and hinge bolts plus the large area?

Does the sub woofer have a paper cone and is the grill metal? I'm concerned about rain water destroying it in that location. I guess a cargo liner tray is no longer possible since liquids could drain into the woofer?

There are already a few threads here which extensively discuss the 2015's, the new audio system upgrade, and that sub. The sub is waterproof, and appears to have a cone made of something more than simply paper. However, the concerns mentioned in those other threads are the accumulation of water, snow, mud, dirt, and such into the speaker.

I don't understand why Jeep reconfigured the dash tweeters either. I'm curious if there is an improvement because of the new location. The old tombstones aimed the highs directly to your ears and minimized potential rainwater damage. The new flush tweeters aim straight up!?

Any pics? Curious about the tweeter relocation and what's so upgraded about the sound system. Compared to my 2013 Sahara with premium 740nav with sub?

The new tweeters are in the same spot, just recessed into the top of the dashboard and pointing up.

Why they just don't use coaxials and ditch the tweeters all together is beyond me.

The sub is "sealed" so I guess it is water resistant. And that top cover is metal. It's really heavy duty and I wouldn't have a problem throwing something over it. The way they have it designed its really tough. Sounds great too.

You still have room for the tools and the storage for the hard top screws, but nothing else.

Here's a photo of the sub again and the new tweeters. I don't know why they haven't moved them to the windshield pillar molding yet. For the few that drop the windshield, they would have to make sure the wiring doesn't pinch, but most people, most of the time, keep the windshield up.

I noticed a ton of room under the rear seats of my JKU. I wonder why Jeep is not utilizing that space for sub woofers and amps.

Universal fitment. That space doesn't exist in a 2-door JK. Rather than come out with two different versions of the sound system, they save money by designing it once and putting it in a place that exists on both versions.

That space under the rear seat in a JKU disappears after the seat is folded down. I've smashed many things under there on accident, umbrella and snow scraper to name a few.

Looks like if you were to put the Jeep Cargo slush mat or something of the sort... quadratec cargo liner..

You will cover the sub and Muffle the sound...

Wonder if the plan is to make a new cargo mat that has a hole in place of the sub as to not cover it up since the speaker is "water proof"

Does raise slight concern in ordering a 15. vs possibly just picking up a 14"

Shouldn't be a huge deal but may be to those who put lots of heavy cargo in the rear.

Has anyone had any "real" problems with their sub, positioned, like it is?? Whether its rain, snow etc..
Got my '15 ordered, should be here in a couple weeks, so just trying to get a heads up is all..

I think its mostly people that don't have the 2015 with the alpine system that are complaining. Maybe just a little jealous

no issues far... if you're going to be in deep wilderness (water, mud, ect) just throw a carpet over it. in fact, most people will have some gear load in the back that will cover the sub if off-roading, no?

the fact of the matter is that the sub really sounds great... punchy as hell. if that position in the cargo bay is why, i'm good with it. major upgrade over what I heard in the 2014.

I don't have it and I'm sure not jealous. Even if it is waterproof, over the months and years, you will get dust, mud, hair and whatever else you put into your jeep in the sub woofer. I'm sure it sounds great though!
