The best winch is the one you have with you when you're stuck.

I just received the 10k engo winch from jeepaddons for only $309. Its great price for the winch. I have got to use it once already, yesterday I got to pull my friends 2008 wrangler and it had no problem doing the job. I have a stock battery and it never seem to have a problem supplying power to the winch. I highly recommend this winch. I have heard nothing but good things about this winch

random...but I had a conversation with a gentleman today in front of my local home depot while I was installing my bumper and he told me to just buy a used/cheap/POS winch basically and use the hell out of it and learn to use a winch before purchasing a nice one...idk, but that made sense to me...I have no experience with winches so I can't vouch for that at all. apparently he used to off road a lot.

You get what you pay for.

12k Ramsey bought in 1996, still works
12k military Warn in 02 - still works fine - workhorse
2 - 10,500 milemarker. Both failed within 1-2 years. Rusted Chinese junk.
2 Warn 9.5xp's - great. zero issues. fast line pull.
1 Warn 16.5 - perfect.
1 Warn M8000 - waiting to go on rubi.

8 winches on 4 vehicles, Warns and Ramsey never failed. The cheapest guy spends the most.

We've run many different brand winches in our days, but honestly, if you want something that is tried and true, buy a Warn.

I've never had a Warn winch let me down on the trail, but I have had quite a few others brands

I went with the Warn M8000 with the synthetic rope after tons of reading.

I went with the (new this year) Warn 9.5 cti-s.

You can't see it all that well as it's tucked down into the bumper, but a swarm of bugs came out to admire it.

Basically, the best one is the one that someone has on their vehicle. I like my Warn 9.5XP. You really do get what you pay for. When it comes to a winch don't cheap it.

Thanks fellas. I'm definitely going with a Warn winch of some sort (probably with a synthetic line), now I just need to decide what bumper I want (any ideas?). I just got a 2012 Rubicon JK and haven't driven it since driving it back from the dealership almost 3 weeks ago due to work

I picked up the quadratec 9000 lb...got a good deal since it was a 25$ scratch and dent sale and I got a 25 giftcard as well. I paid 269 plus shipping so I payed 300 out of pocket. I put it on last night; looks good but haven't tried pulling yet.

I just got this one yesterday. Now waiting on the Warn plate so I can mount it. Would be nice for Warn to include one of those GO WARN front windshield decals in the box.
Hey Andy!! Can you hook me up??: whistling:
