Whats up with the JK brakes "Groaning"

You hear these suckers, when you barely let up off the brakes?
I never heard groaning like this till I owned a Jeep.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool in its on way. Just curious on cause. Everyone I've driven is like that

I don't know why it does that when I back out of the driveway.... It was odd at first, but now I don't think about it.

Wait until your wheeling down a steep hill using the brakes. Talk about groaning.

Yeah mine only does it backing out of the driveway as well. The wife first commented on it when we first brought it home. Now we hardly notice it.

That's usually the sound when the Hill Start Assist is engaging/disengaging.

So the solution would be to pull it out of the driveway

My JKU brakes groan loudly right when a complete stop is being reached and right when letting off the brakes from a complete stop.

4500 miles on the clock.

Oh well, I guess its normal.

Backing out of driveway from day one. It is annoying, but normal!
As of current, 3300 miles, and same sound as when new, no worse, or no better.

Are these all automatic transmissions? I've heard other cars groan, but they've all been autos at idle since they want to go forward. I haven't heard a manual transmission vehicle do it.

mine does it only when its raining, almost sounds like the metal tab hitting the rotor when the pads are worn down, but a lot deeper sounding.

manuals will do it too if you are stopped on any incline and you have to press the brakes to keep the vehicle from rolling.

I thought all vehicles groaned if you let the brakes "slip"

Different brake pad material will have different effects I suppose.

First time with a Jeep and I wonder if the braking would benefit from a brake line upgrade to stainless steel braided. Less modulation of the brake force and more discrete pressures that would translate into better braking feel and less "slipping" of the brakes??

I know a lot of people upgrade to stainless steel brake lines. Maybe there is something to it.

I was told by a long time jeeper and jeep dealer that they added the sound feature for trail crawling... It gives an audible sound to indicate tire movement over rocks or on hills when crawling is needed. I was led to believe this was an intentional addition. I love it on my Rubicon when navigating rocks.
