wheel size for jku 2008

I was wondering if i could put a 16" rim on my 08 jku sahara? I was told that the smallest rim i could go with was a 17. I have 18 stock rims now. I was gonna go with a 35" tires but now im thinking of 33s. I have a 2" spacer lift. Im not off roading/wheeling with it. Some back roads is it. We have another jeep for that. Any suggestions?

16" were stock on many of the JK's. Lot of folks have 15's on theirs but you have to be sure the calipers clear for 15's. 16's are assured. If you look really close at my profile pic you will see that they are 16" Mickey Thompson Classic II's.

Thats my concern is clearing the callipers. I may just stick with a 17" as i know those clear as my 18s were an option they got.
