Question Wheels 16x8 or 17x9

I need help can not decide between 16x8 with 4in back space or 17x9 with 4.75 of back space. I am wanting to run 33" tires.

at 4.75in backspace you may have to run spacers. Another thing you would want to look at are the tires you want and compare the cost/weight/load ratings in the models available in both 16 and 17in.

Yep you'll want 4.5in bs. You'll get a little more sidewall out of the 16x8 but for a JK the 16x8 or 17x9 is good

Actually 4.75 is fine on a 9" wheel. You can even go as high as 5" on a 9" wheel. It wouldn't be on a 8". Since the 9" wheel is 1" wider it allows a 1/2" less tire overhang then a 8" wheel. A 4.75 bs on a 9" wheel is like having a 4.25 bs on a 8" wheel

But there will be rubbing...especially at full turn with slight articulation. So some cutting may be required

Well I got the TF leveling kit on my jeep. I am wanting to run the stock tires for now to save some $$$$. But I am wanting to run 285/70R17 on the 17x9 wheels, or 33's on the 16" wheels. Thanks.

Is it the lower the BS number the further outboard the tire sits? I am looking at the same issue but looking to go with 265 or 275-70-17

For an '08 Sahara with an AEV 3.5" lift, can I put 15"X8" wheels with Duratracs 33X12.5X15? I'm hoping to keep the tire inside the stock fender/flare and have "tolerable" rubbing... i.e., no cutting... It probably cannot be done... so if that is the case which size 33" tire/wheel will work and how much BSpacing can I get?

I know I'm new here but this is the first thread I've found that talks about this exact question... I've ask lots of other places and never get an answer, even from DT.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

Gary
