When should i.........

Hey jeepers, I have a 13 jkus with about 2000 miles on it. I am wondering when I should go in for my first service appt. I know with all vehicles the dealer always come in every 3k miles, but with my girlfriends car we take it every 5k. With my first service appt should I go in at 3k and have the dealer check it over or should I wait for 5k miles?

You'll get lots of different answers here. Some wait for the service light, some change the oil 10 times and do a please-don't-tick-dance every month until 3k.

^This.

I just brought my 2013 JKU in this week at 3K miles to get first oil change done. My dealer told me to wait until 5K.

I prefer more frequent oil changes during the initial break in - <5K.

Longer intervals at higher miles but no such thing as too much on a new motor.

I will never be convinced that waiting 5k for an oil change on a fresh engine is a good idea. Too easy and cheap of insurance to just blow off & not worth the potential negatives - manual or no manual.

Your call though.

Shouldnt exceed. based on your style of driving. Most folks will cut that in half.

My light came on at 3000ish miles. Was going to bring it in anyway.

Yea, you're going to get a lot of different answers. You can wait till 3000, you'll be ok. 5000 if you have syn oil in it.

I don't listen to the manual due to the no usage of the long miles oil. If you use oil & filter that said it can going for 7500-10,000 miles. Then you'll wait that long.

Dealers don't use that.
