When to negotiate price when ordering?

Planning to order a 2013 JKU Rubicon this week (assuming the order banks open) and I signed up for the tread lightly program. Do I need to negotiate the price at time of order or is it fine to wait until the Jeep comes and negotiate the price then? I know TL is 1% under invoice guaranteed, but wondering if it's worth to try to get 2% under and if I need to do that haggling at time of order or if it's ok to wait till the Jeep comes? Also, what's about the max under invoice you think would be probable using a program like TL? Would 2-3% under invoice be achievable or plan on 1% and be lucky if I get 2%?

Thanks!

negotiate before you order. they'll write up a purchase sheet with the price you pick, make sure they have it in writing that they'll accept any affiliate discounts (tread lightly) and cash allowances (there's a $500 college graduate scheme and sometimes you get $500 allowances in the mail) when you pick it up. If they won't go below tread lightly, then tell them you'll shop around at other dealers. Remember though, we're talking a couple hundred bucks difference on a 30K purchase, so don't forget that. Some people will walk away over pocket change and lose out on something that they really want.

I don't think they'll be that interested in haggling after the jeep comes in. They know you've been waiting 6 weeks for it, so they can charge what they want. You can always try.

Dont be afraid to walk away, my dealer offered me 18,900 for my trade (2011 frontier), i told them 21,000. They said no way. Sales manager called me back later that night and said they would do the deal, i then said i had a better offer from another dealer, they said they would up my trade to 22,000. I took that deal. They ended up giving me 2000 more then i paid for the truck, i feel i got a good deal.

When you are ordering a jeep remember it is gravy for us.....it is a jeep that we will not have to pay interest on..it will go out as soon as it comes in...

You should be able to pay 2% under pretty easily..plus any "rebates' Not! that might materialize....

good luck...negotiate during the order...don't wait...get a signed buyers order....you should be good to go

Tread lightly program

I'm also considering ordering soon when the banks open. Can anyone add anything to the Tread Lightly program besides what I've found here: Tread Lightly - Tread Lightly! Discount on Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler Vehicles

Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance!

Ask the dealer if they participate in the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program - virtually all do. (There is no such thing as the "Tread Lightly program" - membership in TL, or employment with or membership in about 1200 other entities, makes you eligible for the Affiliate program.)

Get your control number (good for the calendar year) here: https://www.chrysleraffiliates.com/l...tPricingLayout

You've locked in a 1% under invoice, no BS dealer add-ons deal. If you want to try to sweat out a 2% under deal, better do it up front and get a written memo on it. Once that pretty new Jeep that is just what you wanted comes in, you'll be putty in the salesman's hands!

Make sure any deposit you give with your order is refundable!
