When will start to see 2014s at dealerships??

Hi,

A few folks on here are ready to place an order for a 2014 within the next week, with an anticipated delivery date of August.

Does that mean that we won't see 2014s appearing at dealerships until August? I thought a few would be seen within the next week...probably wishful thinking...

wishfull thinking.

Im running into the dealer first thing in the morning on the 11th to place my order for ANVIL JKU. Im not expecting delivery until the first or second week of september. thats my guess when you will also start seeing them trickle into the dealer.

Last year jeeps website wasn't updated until late september to reflect the 2013 options and prices.

Ordering has been pushed back until the 11th of June, production does not even start until around 23 of July because they are still building the rest of the ordered 13's.
Pat has posted a thread on this with great info at the top of the page. Good luck!

New model year usually starts in September. Sometimes you see a few early risers in late August, but not usually

Id say August is possible. I bought my 2013 last August and it was the first 2013 they sold off the lot.

All of this confuses me. So you can't order a 2013 now, but can't order a 2014 until the 11th. So are they only making orders on the line? Have they stopped creating 2013's completely? So if my local dealer has...say 3 2013's on the lot, they wont be getting any more until the 2014's start shipping in August/Sept? Doesn't make sense to me.

There are some 2013's en route to dealers, there are some on the assembly line and some waiting to be shipped as usual. They can sell them whether or not they take custom orders. This way they can use the last of whatever they have and still make just as much money before they switch over to the new ones. Most likely they would use a new batch of supplies to create the next years model. If there were problems with that batch it's easier to recall that way

Thank you! I've been sitting here thinking that lots will have a dry spell on inventory. When browsing what a few dealers have on their lots, I was thinking I may have to wait until August/September to get what I want, but sounds like that is an incorrect assessment.

I never thought it would be hard to sell a CJ! Need to sell the CJ and my Celica before I can get a JKU, so was really worried I'd be hosed until the Fall.

Thanks again!

Just keep in mind that while dealers will still be getting inventory in, you may be limited on getting all the options you want or forced to pay for options you don't want. If you're not picky overall or have time to do the research, you're probably good.

If you do think you will have to wait until Aug/Sept, I would recommend ordering the Jeep however you want it.

Yes, a lack of inventory is common for any car make at that time of year. Generally the SOP is late July for most MFGs, taking a few weeks into August to get the first off the line and delivered to the end dealer. If you go looking for a car in the summer, you can usually find a great deal on a left over prior model year, but the inventory is slim.
