Which top would you like to see?

Fellow Jeepers I started a project making new Jeep Wrangler JK tops under the name Rock and Road.

We have several designs in the works and wanted to get feedback from other Wrangler owners.

You can go to Kickstarter and look us up under Rock and Road, Denver CO.

We wanted to start with an amazing camouflage from Kryptek but we have had less than excited response to the pattern.

So we are going to make some in OD Green, Camo, and we are thinking of a really colorful plaid, animal prints, and we are looking into asymmetrical artist series tops too.

What do you guys think?

I think you need to post some photos here of what you can do and give us a better idea. OD green and camo can work well on earth toned paints, I'm not sure you will have much interest in animal print and plaid though.

Ned much bigger rear windows and actual rear side windows.

Is this a soft top?

I think I'll second the request for a link to the idea, given that its an idea at this point and not a shipping product.

I would love a soft top like cars have that you don't have to take the windows out of to put it down. Fast up and down. I know cars don't have side windows in their tops. But that is my dream top.

Why do you think we would need a larger window? The factory spare (30-32) blocks the center part of the window on both the 2-4door and the rear head rests block the lower third also.

The pill shaped inset window gave me (6') and my girlfriend (5'6") the same visibility. I don't carry a spare tire on the gate at all so I have a completely unobstructed view.

If you have a tire carrier for oversized tires 35 and larger you loose the ability to see out the back completely.

Same goes with the triangle view window on the 4 door it is the only viewable area because of the sport bar and door frame.

The 2 doors will have windows in different areas to make sure that drivers of all sizes don't have blind spots.

The forum mods said I can't link as i'm not a vendor at this point.

We have production in place and are ready to pull the trigger but we want feedback and a real idea of interest before spending a large some of money on a product that ends up sitting in a storage locker.

I will link pictures soon, we are currently traveling cross country and the best images are on my computer at home.

NOTE the mockups in the pictures and video are not made of our production material.

I like the night camo but I doubt you'll make an lj top so I'm out. My wife liked the pattern with the green skulls but she said they needed to be purple to match her jku.
Looks like a cool product, best of luck to you guys.

Hmm... I like the idea, but do not like the "next" patterns. If these materials are just being printed on, the I would seek out the communities advice on patterns. The ones shown do not seem like they would be chosen. Can you do ANY pattern? That would be a gamechanger. I have recently encountered hydrodipping and love the idea for accents. Check out those patterns for ideas. Otherwise I do not think some of the patterns will be saleable.

The designs we used in the video are only a small sample of possibilities. They are not ones we plan on producing unless they struck a mark with the community. We have been creating designs for over three years and will of course get feedback from the Jeep community.

As for hydrodipping, it wont work for our product. We have several ways to get the end result we want and need. Being that not all Jeeps are garaged our tops will have to endure the stress of being in the elements 24/7/365

We are starting with the JK wranglers, we do have plans on making tops for earlier model Wranglers and CJs as we grow. However with the higher price point and the nature of customization we felt the current JK was the best place to start... after all they have made 1,000,000 of them.

The input has been great so far.

Our plan as technology advances is to be able to create one off tops for individuals. The current materials and products are extremely pricy to do this, we are pushing some of the development of printing techniques and materials to lower cost for this.

We have developed a few processes and special material specific to our applications.

As we all know there are 3 types of wrangler owners, off road people, modified people, and those who just like the wrangler for what it is.

At Rock+Road we are planing on having several different styles and patterns for everyone.
And at the point it is feasible cost-wise, one off custom tops for those that want them.

Unlike the other tops available currently we have developed our material to meet our needs. Other soft tops are made from purchased material from 2-3 major textile manufactures. Not that there is anything wrong with that. They make some great automotive/outdoor fabric... it just doesn't work for us.

So if you like our idea and you want to support us and see our product/your product on the shelves or on your Jeep donate to our Kickstarter and spread the word.
