White letters in or out???

My iPod doesn't show a search option so I'm asking. What's the consensus? White letters cool or geeky?? I'm old school and raised white letters were a must have, back in the day. It seems everyone is into black on black. Kind of dark but I'd like to fit in. Contrast and even chrome used to work. What happened?

I like them in.

But I also HATE black wheels. They just fade into the tires and become one big lump of black. I always say black wheels are like the bottom of the barrel old school, 80's detective, you can't even afford hub caps, wheels.

I am also old and you would think I'd like them out. But no.

Agreed on the wheels, but I like to see those white letters.

I have the white letters out on my pickup and I think the tires look good mounted that way, but I would always mount them in on the Jeep unless you never take it offroad. The wheels and tires will take a beating offroad and the white lettering would soon become badly scuffed.

IMO, if you get tires with white letters, mounting with the white inboard looks tack at best. Either get black sidewalls, paint the white letters black or display the white side proudly.

The only mistake you can make it to try to cut off the white letters.

That's funny you should ask ...my buddy has a totally blacked out JKU and when I told him I was getting a new a new JK 1st thing he said was make sure you have the tires reversed so your not looking at those hideous white letters and its a thought that never once entered my mind and when I thought about it I still don't see what's wrong with the white lettering I kinda like it :happyyes:

I can live with the factory wheels for now but I can't stand looking at the white letters. I'm getting new wheels now to prepare for bigger tires later and get rid of the white letters now.

BTW, my old 66 mustang Goodrich T/As have the white letters out, as they should be.

I prefer in, but have mine out at the moment. I got an amazing deal on cooper STT blems. The blemish on three of them is a chopped up white letter, but they went and stamped the pristine black wall side with a huge "BLEMISH" tag. The tag is more of an eyesore than the actual blemish, so I just went with it. I got new tires for less than $600 out the door so I am good with it.

I like white letters on classic muscle cars and hot rod trucks. Modern cars, not so much.

Thing is though, it's really an opinion. Because of that, there's really no wrong answer.

The only thing that really matters is whether or not YOU want the white letters out on YOUR Jeep. Get the tires you want mounted the way you want and ignore the haters.

Well, unless you're going to put white walls on a Jeep. That's just wrong and will get you kicked out of the club. :pc-ouch:

Obviously, anyone who wants the white letters showing should do so; likewise for those who want them turned to the inside.

Depending on the tire and the lettering raised white letters out can really look good - but that is my opinion and it is only your opinion that should matter to you.

A blue Islander with tires with raised white letters and a blacked out Rubicon with blackwall tires could both look good even parked side by side.
