My brother has almost 40K on his 12 JKUR. hes meticulous with the thing, always changing oils, fluids, making sure everything is in working order and STILL is having problems. hes only told me a few of them (might be a little embarrassed). the list i know of is, evap canister, electronic disco, a few starting issues, full dash replacement, leather seats replaced, some wiring replaced, a minor trans selector issues got taken care of as well. Overall nothing id consider serious, and by that i mean, heads, trans, anything internal on the engine and stuff like that. he uses the thing every chance he gets, so its still holding up to abuse in my opinion. And to end the rant, due to all the claims hes made, chrysler has given him a FULL 100K mile warranty on anything and everything

jeep condition

07 jk unl rubi - rolled over 70,000 earlier today, first 30K miles driven up in seattle, 15000 in Juneau Alaska, winter included, and the last 25000 driven in on texas coast with a lot of beach use. Other than copious amount of rust to frame/exhaust/axles (I wasnt very good making sure to wash salt off after every beach visit/winter use) the engine has had no issues. runs and starts like a champ, other than having a bad battery a few years back.

15k on my 2013.

Got my complimentary rock chips on the windshield within the first month.

Trans line began rubbing - known issue, now a recall with no parts available - fixed myself with a piece of rubber hose before it got bad.

Air needed burping from the HVAC because it gurgled.

Got my cowl dimples from the stupid mirrors.

A/C blower turns off for a few seconds and then resumes - no known fix.

A/C closes fresh air intake door and pulls cabin air in when not in recirculate - no known fix.

Battery leaked from both ends, spilled onto the tray, and may be the reason I just put a warranty order in for a new passenger side brake line holder. The driver's side is looking new, the passenger clip is rusted. Battery replaced under warranty (then changed out, because I'm not doing this again in a few months).

16K and no issues with the engine. Had a zipper issue on the rear window, fixed under warranty. I am going to be bringing it in this week since I got a squeak coming from what sounds like a rear caliper sticking, should be covered under warranty, and the passenger taillight is holding water.

But those couple things aside the Pentastar and 5 speed auto has been flawless, she's still running stock heads.

Engines or heads? Huge difference. Did he mention 2011? It was in a few cars and the Grand Cherokee a year and a half before the JK.

The number he's giving you seems believable for heads at a big shop, ridiculously high for a complete engine. My buddy is Chrysler mechanic at a medium sized dealer and does about one head replacement every couple weeks. Most are in minivans, but maybe thats just because of the high number sold.

Didn't specify, but did say they were crate engines.... 2011 also, cause he said he had a 2011 sebring with that engine and he considered himself lucky to have ne er had a problem with it...

I have had zero issues with my '13 JKM at almost 15K I've just been back to the dealer for oil changes and inspections. It runs so quietly you could almost forget it's running at idle.

I have 47k on my 2012. The head went bad at 44k. That has been the only issue so far. Good luck.

13' JKU 9500miles, only issue I've had is my e-brake stopped working, brought it to the dealer and picked it up an hour later fixed. 6-speed transmission makes some weird noises and the shifter shakes a lot more then any other stick shift i've owned but no real issues.

My '12 JKUR was built on 7/31/12 and I bought it in August '12. I now have 41,000 on it with no issues. Runs great and is very quiet.

My '13 JKU with auto has 7 k miles with mostly no problems and NO major problems and it gets fairly good MPG. Only one minor complaint is that when new the gas peddle was hard to press and the engine seemed to "hunt" for an engine speed, which is rather strange. I thought this would get better with more miles and I didn't take it in for warrant work. Well, the "hard to press peddle got a little easier or I just got used to it. Even now, when I press the gas peddle, it seems to hesitate a little and then it TAKEs off - some times too much. The "engine hunting RPM" is still occurring even at a constant gas peddle pressure. I've read that this engine has variable valve timing and so I think this is what I am experiencing as "hunting". I'll bet that the dealer will say that it's just the nature of this engine design. Anyway - overall, I'm very pleased with my 2013 JKU Jeep - which is my first Jeep. Being rather old, I've had a wide range of trucks, SUVs and cars and I'm amazed at how well this Jeep preforms as a daily driver and on the highway for long road trips.

2012 JKUS, just rolled 45,000 miles yesterday morning. Had that very common head issue (I have one of the first 2012s produced) that was prevalent in early '12 Wranglers......no other issues whatsoever. I am on my 3rd set of tires however
