Who is planning to order Winter Chill?

Apparently available to order (Winter Chill) Oct 4th, but who knows with the backlog. I want to order it but am a little nervous having never seen anything but this picture.
I really think this is the color I want, I typically don't like painted top and fenders, but I think in this color it looks really cool.

I also think when choosing a color, you have to have seen it with trail pin stripping. Some colors like silver, look better than others with trail stripes. I think Winter Chill will look great.

Anyone else have any comments (matching top and fenders or not)?

As of now...Winter Chill is #1 on my list (since Sahara Tan ordered has ended, and Mango Tango was discontinued for 2012's).

But there is no way in heck I would even consider ordering such an unusual color without seeing it in person first.

This color could be really, really cool.....or really, really "girly".
I want to make sure it is white/silverish with a touch of blue.
I don't want it to be a "metallic sky blue"...or have any hints of red, violet or green in it.

Gotta see Black Forest (#2) and Crush (#3) as well.

That pic that you posted is the background pic on my laptop....

When I first started my quest for a '12 Rubicon I was dead set on winter chill as my color. I read a description of the color and it sounded great. I have now placed an order and I'm glad winter chill wasn't part of the package. I agree with previous posters about having to 'see' the color before plunging but after seeing cosmos blue in person that's what I went with. I only saw WC in pics on the internet but those pics tuned me out to the point where I crossed it off my list. I have now seen several CB JK's in person and can't wait to see mine in a few weeks. BUT TO EACH THEIR OWN!

If I was in the market this year, this would be the one t I wanted. But I am completely happy with what I have. Might be a rarer color then mine.

If it's as in the pic, what a nice color. I think black top and fenders, but that's personal preference. I like it dead even with my flame red.

I think this color has pretty much been nailed. But it still worries me. It is really cool, but it is also like tofu...in that it absorbs what is around it. (And no, I don't eat tofu). So I bet it looks better on an overcast day...or a during the middle of a sunny day than at dawn or sunset because it tends to absorb orange/red...which can make it look a lot like a very pale blue-lavender...which isn't quite the look I am going for.

I'm hoping really really cool!! Then my quest to pick a color will be over. Sahara Tan is/was my first choice. Waiting to hear if it is coming back? Or another opportunity missed.

So many comments about it looking (girly) I 'm starting to feel a little girly myself!!! I just want a color I love and I haven't seen any yet. I would just go today and buy a loaded Black JKU but (I live in Vegas) I sold my black TJ when I moved here 9 years ago and bought a boat! (to HOT for Black)
I want to see WC and either get it, or Silver, or Flame Red, or White or,,, I'm feeling a little girly..AAARRRGGGHHHHHHHH

I like the color as well. I don't get into tradition for "masculine" colors. Almost any color looks good in right application. I'm from south when almost every guy owns a pink (salmon) colored polo.

I generally don't like matching flares and top but kinda like in that color. That'll be a decision com buy time.

I'm looking for unique and neutral...

I don't care if it is masculine...but I don't really want a feminine Wrangler.

I thought Mango Tango was very neutral. It wasn't a guy or a girls color....it was just cool.
Sahara Tan was...well....tan...so that could go either way also. (But I do think it had a very military look on the Wrangler).

I don't want black at all...nor do I plan on making the Jeep look "tougher" with bigger wheels and a lift.

But some colors I just can't do on a Wrangler (but I would indeed do on a shirt and tie combo) like lavender or fuschia....or periwinkle.

Actually, when I was getting ready for work...I noticed that Arctic Ice could be the same color as my deodorant.

So I am thinking about ordering it for driving on the beach. I think it might be cool but want to see it first.

I've been waiting on this color but will probably go with black fenders to look tougher. can't go with cosmos or crush because they are gator colors. too bad no navy blue.

This is the color I want to order as well....I would love to see it in person, too...I like the all matching fenders and top...but would love to black it out with an aftermarket front and real bumper, grill and black wheels....and make it a Rubi!!!!!

Arctic $4k

Winter Chill color is already available only with the Arctic package that adds $4k on top of the Sahara. This cost already includes the painted hard top (normally $1,715) & off road tires (normally on Rubicon only, or aftermarket for $1,000) plus a bunch of Yeti decals. Dealer said that it should look like as shown in the 2012 Wrangler brochure:

If it came with a Yeti cooler or two then I'd lean stronger towards it.

I haven't read any where about the off road tires? Where did you see that?

Yeah, for 4k it should have its own snow cone machine. Thats a lot for a few Yeti graphics.
So can this color be ordered on a sport yet?

Yeah, I'm sorting out the price. I believe it was roughly $3500-$3600 invoice. About half of that is the painted top ($1526 invoice on Unlimited). Plus the light covers, fuel door cover, decals, black Rubi wheels, and interior.

Any word on ordering for this? Talking to the salesman at my local dealer is one of the most painful experiences.

The tires look pretty rugged on the brochure picture, I might be wrong. This edition is so new, the dealer did not know anything about it. I planned to get a Sport S in Sahara Tan color, which is not available anymore, so I told the dealer that I just wait until they have better color options. I mean, $30k+ is a lot of money for something to look at for years like "wish they had XYZ color when I ordered". So the sales guy fumbled thru the ordering system to see if Saharas come in different colors & discovered the Winter Chill/Arctic.

I know in prior years there was a island. Other than Arctic and COD will there be any other special editions?

No, can't even add it to regular Sahara, comes with the Arctic edition only.

Did you try and order from the dealer today? I hope it is not a restricted color only for the Artic Edition, that would suck. I was planning on ordering a JKU in Winter Chill.

Anyone know the facts from a dealer today?

Cool color!

This color has been on my radar since late June. I want to see a winter chill JKU in person before I make my final decision though. I agree with panthermark's previous comments - the color could have a tendency to look pale blue or lavender which will really turn me away. I'm not a huge fan of the body color hard top but it does look really nice in winter chill.

I'm saving funds now and will likely place an order next spring if I like the color. Otherwise, I may hold out until ordering for the 2013's opens and hope for a dark blue.

Winter Chill

I have been told both answers from dealers. A dealer in central NJ told me it was for the special edition only, while another dealer told me that he had cars coming in without being the special edition. Pat may be the tie beak and he beleives we can order the color stand alone.

It should be available for any model, not just the Arctic package. The color will be available on the Liberty and Grand Cherokee as well.

I am trying to order it asap, but no response from contact emails yet. They must be selling too many cars today right? If I can figure out what all I need to place an order I'll just go in there.

Winter Chill without the Artic Edition

So the question is can you order Winter Chill without the Artic Edition.

Anyone that finds out one way or the other let us know.
