who's sick of the weather men?

Its been 3 weeks in a row now that the weather has been predicted as scattered thunderstorms. In reality, its about 98 degrees and bright blue skies outside.
I've been too scared to take my top and my doors off for the off chance that it might actually rain as predicted, but I'm starting to get pissed.

Even I can predict that its going to be thunderstorms tomorrow and then change the prediction the next morning when I see there are no clouds outside. What makes certified meteorologists so special for doing the same thing?!

Don't get me wrong, in the past 3 weeks it did rain like four times... but thats only four times out of the 3 weeks that have been predicted as scattered thunderstorms?

I wake up every morning and it says Scattered Thunderstorms, and then around 3pm theyll change the prediction for today to sunny, and say its going to rain tomorrow... and so on and so on

I just wanted to vent. For those that read the whole thing, thanks!

I feel your pain. I just pulled the trigger on the seat glovers neoprene type seat covers, whole set of them front and back. Damn the weather men, I'm fighting back!

Id rather be in your situation. It's been over 100 here in phoenix for a couple of weeks, too damn hot for the top and doors to come off.

Move to Texas. It never rains here. The top has been off for 3 weeks now. Loving it. The hotter the better.

I always just go by the percent chance of precipitation and the hourly forecast. If it's 30% or less, I go for it. Any higher, I'm more cautious. If they say your gonna have scattered t-storms, look at the hourly forecast and see when they are supposed to happen. Say you get off work at 5 and the storms are supposed to start at 6-6:30, you should be fine. This method hasn't failed for me yet.

Just started raining here but even as much as I hate the heat and it hass been a couple weeks of 90+ here. It is better then the 2 weeks prior were we had tornadoes touch down and two hail storms that destroyed thousands of cars. But on the good note my new AEV hood is in and the insurance company pretty much paid for it.

Speak for yourself. I'm keeping mine off until I see the first wall of monsoons rolling in. Hopefully the first one hits when I'm parked in the garage.

Haha, well it is getting too hot for me to keep the top off. I don't feel like driving 15 minutes to classes and arriving soaked in sweat. I can handle under 100, but when it gets above that...

It's Florida.. Every day in the summer there are scatered thunderstorms. Due to the east coast and west coast summer sea breezes clashing florida is essenially in there own little severe weather world. Florida summer pop up thunderstorms are very difficult to predict exact locations because of that.. When weather is predicted, it is predicted for a certain area. In many cases a vast area. Maybe where you are it might have not rained but in your forecast zone it could have..

the best way to do it in florida imo, Is check the forecast then since you on the east coast typically your looking at the day time thunderstorms if you are to get any to arive in the mid to late afternoon since they typically build up on the western to central part of the state. So check a radar if you can in the early afternoon. then just watch the skys, if thouse clouds look big and bluish gray, throw that top up.. Typicaly Florida mornings are safe so you got that going for ya..

Too hot to take the top off here. It's been over a 100 every day for over a week and no relief predicted going into next week. 106 yesterday, 103 right now, 105 predicted for tomorrow and 107 for Saturday and then it will cool off to 101 for Sunday and Monday.

If someone could guarantee that it would rain if I took my top off I would in a heartbeat. It quit raining the first week of last September. There are some good things about that though. I haven't had to mow grass, there are no bugs, no grassburrs, and no weeds.

Took a nap, woke up to thunder GOOD GOD, MY TOP IS OFF is all I could think. Ran out...TOO LATE! Probably gonna have a wet seat tomorrow morning. Can't blame the weather man though....just me taking a nap while the jeep is wide open. I hope my seatglover waterproof covers arrive sooner rather than later.

here in va 30% means absolutely no rain,,so 40% we consider as 10%..i think the weathermen just guess because of the temp change that they oughta report a 30% chance everyday..the joys of weather

Weather.com for me says:

T-Storms through sunday,
Monday & Tuesday sunny,
then T-Storms from there out....

way i work it is:
windows: off even with rain sometimes,
Top off: 40 percent chance of rain, (will put on hoodie in the morning if chilled)
Doors off: under 20 percent chance of rain...

I always put the top on when i'm at work, or not going anywhere for a couple hours, the windows is always a hit or miss if i choose to put them on......

Holy Cow! 107? My temp gauge has been up to 105 here in SA. I'd gladly put my top up for a week if it would just rain. We're bordering on stage 3 water restrictions here. We've never been at stage 3 before.

I disagree, I find that when its a 30% chance or less it rains and between 40 and 70% it doesnt, stupid VA. I just dont care anymore. Having a hard top sucks, (waiting on trektop NX) so I pulled it off about 3 weeks ago and just keep the freedom panels in the trunk. For a while I had no doors as well but purchased full soft doors from best top so now the uppers stay in the back as well. The freedom tops and soft doors can keep the cockpit nice and dry other misting and sometimes dripping from the tops but if I have more than one passenger they will be wet, not my problem

I gave up with the weathermen I just look at the maps and make my own predictions. Seems just as good as their guess.

We're entering the season here in NE Florida when it will be a 30-40% chance of rain every day of the week. In other words, my guess is as good as the weatherman's. Hard to plan when you can leave the top down and doors off for an extended time.
