I think all Jeeps should be made and bought with standard transmission, like all "driver vehicles" plus they are better off road...
......exceptions would be like ......??

A lot of people use their Jeep as daily driver, and if you live in a major metro area driving in traffic with a manual sucks
Try driving back from Keystone or Breckenridge on Sunday afternoon and sit in bumper to bumper ski traffic on I-70 for 5 hours with a manual on an uphill slope

Simple solution to that.. Do not tail-gate. Problem solved. If there are 2000 cars behind you, they will wait. Drive like truckers do. They do not tail gate (rarely) and leave lots of room so you are not constantly in that stop & go motion. It will also fix the stop & go sling shot going backwards too cause people will crawl instead.

from what I've read (never been real wheeling), being off road capable has less to do with the machine you're driving than it does the skills of the operator of the machine. I personally probably couldn't take a 4x4 where a skilled driver could take the exact same 4x4.
I drive a manual and I can say the only thing that makes a jeep a soccer mom jeep is one that has never touched dirt or rocks at all in its life. Even light wheeling or beaches is enough
But then again that was the life of my jeep until I bought it luckily for me
either the medications have somehow interfered with rational thought processes here or the lack of actual off-road experience contributes to a fundamental error in the cognitive process....
Guy who brags about his manual trans muscle car: "I got a blabla w/a 4spd"
Me: "you know the auto is faster/quicker in the qtr mile?"

I'm a real sissy, I have an auto & I wax my Jeep! While were at it, Why not bring back the rotary phones?!

Driving stick is a skill, those that can't will mock. I personally prefer the control and have raced and beat many automatics. The choice is mine and and that only comes in a manual.unk:
I agree I like and sometimes miss my old manual tj but I'm no soccer mom and willing to bet I can keep up with any similarly equipped manual with my auto. But question if anyone who says a manual is better could keep up with me! Lol experience is worth more than anything when it comes to offroading that and maybe lockers!
You do realize that a manual in no way is better off road. That's why pro off road vehicle use Autos. Many like manuals because of the feel they get with it but an Auto is a much better off road transmission.
Beside there are many like say someone that was injured in Service (me) that has to have a Auto at this point. I used to love driving a Manual but can't anymore. This Disabled Veteran loves his auto and off roading.
