Why buy automatic in a Jeep?

I think all Jeeps should be made and bought with standard transmission, like all "driver vehicles" plus they are better off road...
......exceptions would be like ......??

Lol, I used to feel the same until I got more into offroading and in my opinion it is much more fun with an auto.

A lot of people use their Jeep as daily driver, and if you live in a major metro area driving in traffic with a manual sucks

Try driving back from Keystone or Breckenridge on Sunday afternoon and sit in bumper to bumper ski traffic on I-70 for 5 hours with a manual on an uphill slope

You will want to commit suicide

Please describe the advantages a manual transmission has over an automatic for offroading.

Thanks.

from what I've read (never been real wheeling), being off road capable has less to do with the machine you're driving than it does the skills of the operator of the machine. I personally probably couldn't take a 4x4 where a skilled driver could take the exact same 4x4.

I drive a manual and I can say the only thing that makes a jeep a soccer mom jeep is one that has never touched dirt or rocks at all in its life. Even light wheeling or beaches is enough

But then again that was the life of my jeep until I bought it luckily for me

either the medications have somehow interfered with rational thought processes here or the lack of actual off-road experience contributes to a fundamental error in the cognitive process....

Get an automatic so you can take the doors off and cruise around with your left foot hanging out on the side step rail.

Try that with a clutch!!!!

Auto all the way for me. It's for exactly what I need. Daily driver, hunting, lazy, just to name a few.

I agree I like and sometimes miss my old manual tj but I'm no soccer mom and willing to bet I can keep up with any similarly equipped manual with my auto. But question if anyone who says a manual is better could keep up with me! Lol experience is worth more than anything when it comes to offroading that and maybe lockers!
