Why correct the Jeep Rake?

What's the purpose of correcting the rake of the Jeep JK? Other than aesthetically wanting the jeep to look flat from back to front? Is there some other advantage to correcting the rake for offroad purposes? I would actually think a slight rake to the front would help you see slightly better while climbing a steep hill.

Overlanders like the rake cause it allows them to load up more gear without the back drooping

The rake supposedly reduces the drag and improves mileage. Same thing with the front air dam.

I figure the front rake also aids in shedding water so it doesnt just sit on the seams.

Cant even say I noticed the Rake until I started hearing about it here.

Many Makes and models of trucks, suv, etc have factory rakes. It also helps reduce the "big" feeling and appeals to many additional buyers that normally would otherwise avoid said vehicles. I dislike the rake. I like the more aggresive, traditional look.

The rake might also aid in aerodynamics... albeit very small, but wind hitting an edge or wind hitting a flat surface....

I'm thinking a drunk munkee at TF gave you the 3" coil and the 1" rear leveling kit coil in your kit.

IMO it is much more pronounced on the Unlimited. When people try to correct for it with a 2 door they get the squat. The JK's sloped hood adds to the perception.

The jeep should be level if the pitch seem ends are at the same heights.

Right now i am level at the seems although the front flare is still 1/2 higher.

That pic was almost 2" and the jeep was clearly dropping the kids off at the pool
