why does these jeeps have this excess paint glob

Take a look at your 2011 jeep wrangler and look on the rear passenger side bumper. Look above your bumper on the right corner. There is some thick glob and i looked at other jeeps at dealerships. Anybody know why my jeep and others came like this. I thought it was a defect so i tried to take it off. Now i have to get it fixed by a collision place. looks like sh..

any advice ?

some unrelated humor but two or three decades ago a friend of mine repaired a car (body shop ) customer started to nitpic the job so said body man took him to a dealer lot to check out new cars for gaps and runs and he ended up with a very happy and lifelong customer

That glob is the seam caulk. They get sloppy with it sometimes. In areas where seams meet like the rear quarter panel and rear panel the seam has auto body caulk. when the body is painted the paint covers everything. Even excess body caulk.

they probably discovered the paint was laid on too thin on the other side of the jeep when they weighed the paint job. They then go back and add a little extra to a corner to keep the vehicle in balance. this is standard practice and nothing to be worried about.
