Why No Mango Tango?

I have been lurking for quite some time trying to absorb as much information as possible.
I am within a few weeks of taking the plunge and buying my first jeep wrangler. I'll be trading a Tundra and an S2000,,, I hope I'm not going to regret my decision.

I'm pretty sure that I know what options I want, but now I'm stuck on colors.
The only one that gets my juices flowing is the Mango Tango, but it is no longer available.

Does anyone have any inside info on future availability?
I would be willing to wait because I think that the wrangler looks great in this color.

Check with all your local and maybe even not so local dealerships and let them check it's availability state wide. Hopefully they can find one and get it delivered to their dealership for you. I don't see the Mangos much any more just like the Tan color but there are still a few out there. Would be worth looking into. You may have to settle with the options it has since there are not that many left.

Won't say it will never come back but don't look for it to especially anytime soon. Seems like Jeep is having a field day with limited colors. They seem to cause a rush to buy so you can have that limited color that once gone no one else can get. And it seems to be working. Best you can do at this point is paint it yourself if it is a must. I have a very rare 2010 color that only ran for 2 weeks and was gone.

I'm not entirely sure but I don't think they made the Mango for 2012? If you like that color more than the 3.6 then grab a 2011 with it and the 3.8. There are really good deals on them right now. I don't expect that to change as the get rid of them.

I'm not real fond of any of the 2012 colors, except for maybe black. I much preferred the metallic direction they were headed. Loved the Mango and the Rescue Green. I'm waiting..... see what happens.... just like the black leather seats that no one knew were going to be available. Of course I already have a JK... so it's easier for me to wait.

There is no Mango Tango for 2012, at least so far. The orange-based color for 2012 is "Crush."

In general, every year Jeep likes to release Wranglers with a set of standard colors (i.e., white, silver, black, red, etc.) and then also some colors that are of limited availability and often "quirky" (i.e., sahara tan, gecko, deep water blue, detonator, dozer, etc.).

The limited/quirky colors are often only for one or maybe two model years and orderable for a short period of time. Mango Tango was one of those colors.

I'd recommend hunting around for a 2011 in the mango, because color choice trumps engine!

I <3 my mango tango. Plus it seems dealers are more likely to give you a deal on a 2011, even if it the hard to find mango tango

I don't really see why so many have a problem with the 3.8. Most of the problem is gearing anyways and it is easy to regear or find a manual Rubi with the 4.10. It can handle real well.

But you really only have two choices and that is to get a 2011 Mango or buy a 2012 non Mango. Could buy a black 2012 and have it repainted leaving the grill black or even other few parts. Reason I say black is the tub. It wouldn't look off to leave the tub and under the hood black for a repaint.

It wouldn't be that different in price to regear or repaint but a Mango 2012 would be unique. Might even find a dealer that has a onsite body shop that would do it for you in the deal.

I think if I was offered a straight up trade on my 11 mango for a 12 I wouldn't do it.

I thought myself lucky to get my 2012 in Natural Green.

Mango Tango wasn't offered in 2012.
Sahara Tan, Rescue Green and Cosmos Blue were offered early on....and have already been pulled.

Gotta get in quick on some of these colors....

I just wanted to say that I traded in an NFR AP1 S2000 w/white Rota Torques for my 2010 Mango Tango JKU Mountain, and I couldn't be happier. Every once in a while you'll miss hitting that 9k, but the Jeep pros far outweigh the cons.

You should post a pic of your S2K

Oh, I would definitely trade up. I do love my 2010 Mango, but I would absolutely go for the Pentastar. If I had to give up Mango, I think I'd go for black.

the truth. all jeeps are going to drive like a jeep, even if it has a bit more "oomph" around town, I'd rather be in the sexiest jeep available, than one that is slightly faster from one stop light to the next

I absolutely LOATHE the existing colors of the 2012s. It's like they decided to make Jeeps look like a bag of skittles. It's ridiculous. Luckily I found one of the last Natural Greens or else I wouldn't be driving a Jeep. Tan and green were the only two colors that were good on this year's Jeep and both of them were very limited first month only runs. These new colors are just plain HARRIBLE.

True but sometimes you wanna step away from the crowd

I remember being PO'd about not getting the Deep water blue...discontinued in 2010... but once I saw the MT in person which is copperish that was the one!

They should have continued the MT in '12 and called it Toxic orange like the Dodge Viper

"Color" is pretty much a personal thing.

I labored between Mango & Rescue Green. Frankly I'm sure I would have grown tired of them in short order, day in and day out.

Natural Green soothes me every time I look at it.

I like my Mango Tango, and it won't get old. I like orange metallics.

I also like them discontinuing colors. It helps the resale value, and keeps them unique.

Frankly, all the waiting talk, sub-invoice banter etc. is about as enthusiastic and fun to watch as three seniors debating which Medicare Part B to choose. Sometimes, you just gotta spend the money and get what you want.
Limited colors lends some urgency to a purchase, and that's fun.

I really liked Mango Tango too and was hoping it would be offered for 2012. Now I want Winter Chill and am waiting to see if that's gonna be available for "non-special edition" wranglers.

I am a big fan of orange as you can see

I do not agree at all. The engine and drive train are the reason that I am willing to give up my truck and sports car. I wasn't much of a fan of the mini van motor.

I am not in a hurry and I am willing to wait to see if they have a short term Mango down the road. The color choices this year don't do much for me. I like the way black looks, but I don't want something that shows every grain of dirt. Been there, done that.

If I end up getting something else, I will be OK with that too.
