Passenger door seal still leaks at the bottom and into my slushmat.

My 2012 was leaking badly on the passenger side. Heavy rains were on the way yesterday and through today so over the weekend I applied a liberal amount of GE Premium clear silicone to the suspect plug in the access hole as noted abave. After almost 1.5" of rain in the last 12 hours or so there is not a drop in the passenger well.

Inexpensive and great fix! The only difficulty is getting a 60 year old body twisted and turned enough to reach up there.

Thanks, Rich

Have you run the A/C? I've had friend's cars that leak into the pass side floor when the A/C is run and the drain tube blocked.

Only noticed the wet passenger floor when I happened to see water dripping from the passenger door bottom down the side sill and missing my WeatherTech floorliner's. While allowing things to dry out properly last weekend, I also removed the freedom panels and put them back on but didn't crank down the rear twist knobs like I had previously. The door seal is secure in the track, and for now it seems ok since there hasn't been rain here. I am definitely keeping an eye on it now.

I also checked that firewall location in the passenger foot-well area. Mine appears more circle shaped (the area is against the very upper passenger side of the foot-well right?) and didn't appear to be the source of the leak, at least this time.

Here is a pic I mine on the 2013. Dont know if it leaks because its never been wet. I did notice that its really tight against the body and looking at your video seems like yours was not very flush. Maybe gonna still seal it up with silicone anyway.

I did mine last week on my 2011. They were tight up against the body and i could see a hint of blue behind it like it was already sealed with something. I put sealant around it anyway and Friday the dealer changed out the door seals. Hope it was one or the other.

I accidentally posted my leak experience on the TJ site, so i will repost here. We had a doozy of a leak in our '10 JK, and it was aggrevating. I did a quick cursory check, but must of missed the obvious. So i got on these boards and was expecting the worst. Even called dealer and told them I was bringing it in while I went on vacation and didnt want it back until it was completely fixed. Well, before I even did this, I said, let me just spray this thing with water and see what happens. So, short story is, the rubber gasket/seal around the door, at the bottom, had come off its "Track" so the water would come in near the top by windshield, and run down, realize it was off track and dump right into the floor. Simply snapped the gasket back onto its track, try as a bone. I know that might sound remedial, but my moral is, dont forget to look for the simple and obvious.

We had a couple of pretty heavy rains lately and my 2013 JK was outside and did not have a leak problem. My 2011 would have been full of water. Looks like they addressed this issue.

Subscribed.

Was just about to take my 2011 for round 2 of "fixing" this at the dealership.
Going to take a peek at my plug when I get home.

Thanks to daily rains here in SE WI, mine is most certainly coming from that area on the bottom of the passenger door by the sill (just like how I stated here back in December '12). I do have my soft top back on now too, so I was expecting it to be from that but it's only coming in at the bottom, no traces along the A pillar.

For now I have that carpet pull up so it can dry. I'd like to know what to try on the door seal, it appears secure in the channels it is supposed to be in on the door.

While having my GF spray it with the hose..I jumped inside..

Pulled the carpet back..

This is not very comfy..

Leaks right out of the green plug that meets the firewall and side of the body..upper center left of picture, this is located on the passanger side behind the dash..

This is a youtube video I made of it with just a light spray of the hose..

Our 2012 JKU leaks too.. Now when I take it to the dealer they can just fix it instead of putting a bandaid on it!
what is the orientation of these pics? I am not quite sure where to look. Is it in the same general area on both sides of the cabin? My issue appears to be on the driver's side.

I pulled my rubber slush mats up to vacuum out some pine needles and found the passenger floor mat soaked on my '13. Going to try to get this sealed up and see if it fixes it or not.

I'm adding my jeep to this list ...

2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport S. Water leaking into both driver and passenger footwells soaking the carpet. Sometimes visible standing water depending on the amount of rain.

Leaked since I bought it new. Dealer kept "passing it off" saying it was a new jeep and therefore it did not have a problem. Dealer said it must be something I was doing.

here's full illustrations and areas of leaks in the JK, for the front passenger, the entry point as detailed in this thread as well as a secondary point at the rear of the vehicle, run a search for:

Rear Wheel Flare Hole Repair

http://www.jeep-club.net/graphics/ma..._Leaks_All.pdf

it will show that section followed by the front cowl section.

This important resource should have been up loaded directly onto this forum last year, along with making it a sticky with glaring thread title: ' leaking jeep? check here' and then everyone can simply point to it.

Maybe an enterprising mod can still accomplish this??

I just brought my '11 jku in yesterday for same issue and glad I just read this thread. Found puddles on driver and pass. Side weathertechs after some rainfalls and explained to the Chrysler tech. He said it was probably caused by clogged AC even though I repeated I've only found it after rainfalls.

I second that .. moderator this needs to be a sticky.

Awesome!

Though I meant the .pdf file:

http://www.jeep-club.net/graphics/ma..._Leaks_All.pdf

in case that fails:

http://tinyurl.com/jeep-leak-official-fixes

it is Jeeps TSB complete guide to all leaks in the JK, with photos of entry points, fixes, parts to fix, etc. etc 144 pages of everything you want to know about leaks.

Maybe a mod can edit the first post, or make a new first post, detailing the file what it is, does, explains etc. and uploading it and storing on the forum as an attachment in case it goes down on the other site.

Thanks!

...my new-to-me 2011 JKU had a puddle on the pass floor...first I thought it was due to some floor plugs that were removed by dealer during undercoat and not replaced...after putting plugs back, there was even more water collecting...maybe I should just leave the plugs out!

I have an appointment with the dealer to address this...I'm bringing a copy of the PDF referenced above...I would rather get all my teeth pulled without Novocain than go to my dealer again...WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Hopefully you will have better luck if you buy from the Niagara Falls, NY dealer!!

Question 2013 doors leak...

My 2013 2 door Sahara leaked on both doors seals. After running water over roof and both doors, I found my door seal draining water from one of the drain holes in the seal into my driver and passenger floors. I applied some Duct Seal or Dum-Dum as my Dad calls it, to the drain hole closest the the curve in the door. Sprayed water and the leaks stopped!

Is there a better door seal out there that prevents this problem?

This is just awesome kudos to the op for the find! Ive come up with a little something easier for the bigger guys like me who cant bend to good lol. I located the mentioned demon plug and instead of having someone hose it off while trying to watch it i just made a chalk line under the plugs! If the chalk is disturbed then you know where you stand! I have a storm rolling in right now so im hoping this is it. Tired of having my 3 month old jeep smell like a wet dog. Here are some photos to better describe.

We had just some heavy rain here in Germany and the passenger floor mat of my MY 2013 was really wet. Just put some Duct tape on the plug that meets the firewall. Will do it better later on. Lets see if this still helps....
Thank you very much Slcbrian for this really good description

I've got a 2011 but I've had the same problem, water soaking the passenger side floor mat. As soon as I get back home I'll check to see if it's the same plug. But I wonder, what was the original purpose of this plug? And I wonder if there are going to be any unintended consequences of sealing that plug?

Sicbrian!!!! Good find man. My 2012 4 door jk has the same issue with the leak on the slush mat. Did the test on both sides and its only leaking from the driver side. I took video and pictures so I'll be taking that to the dealer with me. When they attempt to fix my leaks a third time and this is after replacing all the seals today and it still leaks. she only has 2200 miles on her right now. Good find man and thanx for the post.

I've got a '13 Rubicon and noticed that my slush mat on the passenger side is

Attachment 390505

wet after a steady rain. First time I noticed it I thought it was wet from passenger's shoes, but noticed again this morning after it rained last night. Pic is after all day drying, carpet underneath is still soaked. I'm going to check out sicbrian's leak source on my jeep and will update with what I find.
