Just driving along, nothing special then a ding sound and this light...

Is the system acting up??

That's your traction control. Did you hit the button?

No. Didn't hit button.
Came on by itself.

Yes, if you slammed a pothole or caught a microscopic amount of air (coming over a crest or something). If you drive for 10-20 minutes, it should go away. If it doesn't then you have an issue.

Is your steering wheel level (centered) or is it crooked? After a day of hard wheeling I knocked mine off center and that came on , a quick adjustment and it reset. The computer thinks the jeep is out of control and applies the brakes and slows down.

Mine comes on periodically when I go around a turn and get some "tilt" or hit a big enough pot hole. Generally goes off after I restart it. When it comes on I turn off the traction control until I can restart so it doesn't mess with braking etc. Kind of dumb but sure its a "safety standard" thing...

Well, none of those things happened. Just driving straight down a paved road.
Then just ate breakfast at a restaurant. Came out 30 minutes later ... Still on.

Ugh.

If that's the case, just hit the dealer.

Ok. Driving home from breakfast... 20 minute drive. Light goes off.
I guess it's ok. Or I'll keep an eye out now.

Mine kicks on briefly when I don't brake soon enough and then try to stop. Always turns off right away though.

About 5 minutes before it kicked on, I had to panic stop due to a moron turning left in front of me. I didn't think it was related, but maybe it was.

It might be. Mine started coming on after towing a tent trailer without the brake adapter. I towed it up and down a mountain and started happening after that. I'm planning to get the brakes looked at.

I have had it flash on for a second if I'm on a freeway offramp where you have to slow to 20 or so. Mostly will come on if I'm going down hill and need to stop. Turns off right away though.
