So my women has been wanting a Jeep lately because we recently had a little boy and the 2 door car just wasn't cutting it. I have a lifted duramax as my truck and quickly supported her idea of a Jeep. She wanted something with a little lift so we looked for about a month and she finally found one. I have never been around many Jeeps but we both cant get enough of the Jeep lately and are really enjoying owning it. Plus as a guy its hard to argue when she wants to buy something as cool as this. Its got a 4 inch rough country lift, 18" XD's, and 35" nittos.
Like I said above I have a duramax, and have had a couple fast cars in the past but never a Jeep. I want to make sure I take care of it being that it does have higher miles, 75K and I want it to last since the exterior & paint is flawless. I will be reading through some of the stickies on the forum but if there is anything important I should know about the up keep on these Jeeps please post up and let me know. Got the oil changed and going to get all the fluids flushed and changed this weekend so every is fresh.
Other than the fluid changes there really isn't anything else too jeeps. You have an 07-09 right? I'm just guessing by the X on the side. Either way. You have the 3.8L like myself and its a great engine. May not be as powerful as the new one but its easily a 200k+ engine if you don't neglect it too much
Yeah your right it is a 2009, 3.8L so I will for sure be getting all the fluids flushed tomorrow. Glad to know they really only require basic maintenance cause we want this vehicle to last a while. It definitely does not have the power I am used to in the duramax but she doesn't need anything with a ton of power anyways, and you cant beat taking the top off and riding around. We love it.
Keep an eye on the suspension and check to make sure everything is torqued properly occasionally. It shouldn't be a major concern, just something to keep in mind. Also, in a jeep, your wife has just became the object of affection for every boy in the area aged 17-23. That seems to be the age group that tends to honk/stare/whistle at my wife in her jeep anyway, lol.
