Will the Wrangler get the 8 speed auto?

FYI, Chrysler is now selling the RAM with the PentaStar and the 8spd auto, as well as a Hemi V8 with the 8spd.

It seems that the transmission is beefy enough, is there any reason it wouldn't make its way to the JK?

It's in the 300 as well. I took a long, hard look at the 300's and the 8 speed is amazing. I would be bummed if that came to the JK next year.

I'm sure it will eventually. The NAG has been proven to be a stout trans over time. I don't think jeep would put a "new" trans in a wrangler just yet. why do all that engineering to get the 5spd into the wrangler and swap it out next year....

hmmm seems interesting like an interesting possibility to have it in a wrangler. dont know how it'd work off road. seems like it'd either be good or bad. I know the 8 speed in the 300s is also in some audis and bmws.

If it's good, I'd be all over it. I'm hoping 2013 has an 8-speed, though I doubt there will be any changes that major. But a diesel with an 8-speed tranny...well, that would suit me just fine.

mmm the diesel would be awesome. i'd love a diesel and a manual. get a diesiel and manual with a 4 door converted to a 2 door (not like a jk8 independence or a pick up, more like an LJ or the AEV sarge or warns big red)

I'd rather have a 5 speed, or a 6 speed, not an 8 speed AT in a vehicle designed for off road. Now the diesel Rubicon they have in Europe would be awesome. Honestly I think the 2013 is going to be a clone of the 2012, with some of the bugs hopefully ironed out. I'm waiting anxiously.

There was an company news release last year before the 2012 hit the market that a different transmission would be in the future but didn't say when. There was a be discussion because there was some suggestions of a new transfer case too with more selections

Why does an 8sp bother people off road? You do realize that these are electronically controlled and Jeep could easily program in a different shift pattern for when 4L was engaged?
