Yes, you just need to buy a winch plate.

winch plates are on ebay for like 50 to 100 bucks, but i think its worth the extra money to go with a off road bumper.

Yes, and no. If I had the chance to do it over again, I think I'd try making a stubby bumper with maybe a Warn Winch plate.

If you add a winch and aftermarket bumper, the extra weight will make the front end sag...the Jeep will drive and feel different as well as give your Jeep that stink-bug stance. My advice, for what its worth; also plan on aftermarket springs to Handel the extra weight. I know this from experience
Not sure what effect the winch with stock bumper would have...

I was at a Jeep show a few weeks ago where I saw and took pics of a JK where the owner has carefully cut the plastic of the bumper away to mount their winch.
It turned out okay looking, but you can see all the cutting that had to be done when you look close.

Do a little poking around with a google search. I have seen some guys tuck them into the factory bumper (don't think it will fit on a Rubicon). Looks really nice that way, IMHO.

Sorry to cross pollinate here:

Take a look at the Rough Country website. I ordered a stock JK winch mounting plate and am looking at installing it after Christmas.

Worked well in my '11 jk. Used a Warn vr8000 winch. Saw some where guys turned them upside down and mounted it.

Some nice installations here! I like the stock bumper look...kind of a sleeper compared to some of the gnarly stuff out there. I also like the lightweight aspect. Stock bumper is supposedly 26lbs or so? Im sure someone will correct me LOL...with most aftermarket bumpers roughly 70 to 110 or more. Figure a decent winch is roughly 75lbs plus mounting plate...it adds up fast. I'm tempted to go this route or with a lightweight, possibly aluminum, aftermarket bumper....though most are far too heavy for my liking. Weight just kills performance IMO.

Okay, I have to do this. Anyone care to share where to start. Perhaps a write up for the less creative of us?

Here is the RCX plate on a stock bumper. No modifications needed if you have the front tow hooks.

Here is the write up on mine.

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/my-...nch-87776.html

I must admit, there are a few disadvantages to mounting the winch this way. It is difficult to get at for one. Secondly, the cross bar underneath the winch took a serious hit from a rock when I finally went off road. It bent up just enough to make it almost impossible to turn the clutch lever on the winch.

It does look cool though, and it was a blast to do the install.

Stealth winches in the factory bumpers (esp. the one behind the license plate!), are super cool, but I think the ultimate would be a plug-in winch that you'd install when wheeling, and would stay on the shelf the rest of the time. Don't know why Jeep doesn't just make this an option.

That is a clean install, nice job! Maybe you could fabricate a skid plate to protect the winch on the bottom side?

Nice! And in the summer an easy removal? I also hate all the extra weight if it's not needed. But want full access.

I made a bracket to offset the height of the fairlead appx 1.5 " to raise it up so I could locate the fairlead on the bumper where I wanted it. Otherwise, it would be too low and look funny. See these photos. First photo, under the bumper looking at bolt where fairlead would normally be attached. Second photo, inside of fairlead looking at 1/8" flat steel with 1" box tubing welded to extend to the edge of bumper. Fairlead bolts through bumper through the box tubing. Lower bolt holds the new bracket.
