Winch Recommendations, Please...

I love mynew xhd bumper, but as a newbie i dont know much about winches. I would like something in the 8000 lb + range, but beyond that i dont know what to look for, synth or wire rope.... i am planning on doing some trails but nothing to agressive.

Again thanks for the help, this forum rocks!

I just depends on what your willing to pay. Warn is the best by far but very expensive compared to all others on the market. The benefit to synthetic is that it is light weight but is also a lot more then cable. Cable is very cable just heavy.

If you want something good but want to save some a lot of money there are several that are about the same if you don't go with a Warn. That would be Smittybilt XRC, Superwinch, Ramsey, and Mile Marker. Each has their preferrence on which of these are better but I seem to see most with the Smittybilt and Mile Marker.

I found Amazon had great deals on winches. I got my Smittybilt XRC8 (8000 lb) there for $290.

I just got the Warn Power Plant HP. I got a good deal on Amazon with free shipping. Plus the Warn rebate.

The built in air compressor was one of the reasons for choosing the Power Plant.

Down side not all bumpers will house it.

A big consideration is that almost any winch that you get, will cause front spring compression, no matter if it's stock or if you have a lift installed, so

Your work is just starting !!

Thats why mine is mobile and I don't carryit unless I'm gonna needit !!
