Wind noise

I put my hard top on a few weeks ago on our 2013 unlimited, and noticed a wind noise/leak from the upper driver side. I taped off the window, and then taped off the freedom tops, and finally taped off the door- the door was the problem....
Anyone else have this issue? I have not taken it back to the dealer yet, never have much luck with dealerships fixing things..I tried to adjust the door up and it didn't seem to help much-except for scratching the paint off the bolts.
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure it's the door and not the door seal against the freedom top.

I suggest removing the freedom tops and make sure the seat properly and the seals are not pinched.

Had the same issue, fixed by adjusting the door, more to the inside.. also make sure you tighten the freedom top

what did you do differently? I tried removing the freedom top and putting them back on and the noise is still there.

I have the same noise, same location. I have not tried to fix it yet. I'm guessing I need to either adjust the door or lube the seals.....or both.

I had a similar problem, but on the passenger side. it was a whistling like noise that got louder the faster i drove.
the dealer got me a new top (passenger side freedom top) under warranty, and now the noise is gone. turns out the latch behind the visor was not latching as tight (compared to the driver side).

My dealer is ordering new door stripping, he thinks that will fix it....I'm not convinced! I think the freedom top is the problem. Anyone else have problems with their freedom top?

I just got my Jeep back from the dealer the other day after they replaced the header and passenger door seals to try and stop the leaking. So far, the leak seems to be gone, but now it sounds like the window is down on the passenger side. Seals look tight, reinstalled the freedom panel and everything looked ok, but the damn noise is still there. Driver side is quiet. Passenger side sounds like it isn't sealing well, but no leaks yet. Possible a warped panel?

Any other ideas? I've been without the jeep for too long with it sitting at the dealer and would like to try and resolve on my own, but not sure where to start other than reinstalling the panel, which I did. Anyone have a header seal need replacing for wind noise? By the way it's a 2013 JKU.

Well the replacement door seal did nothing to help.....
Now the dealer is ordering a new seal across the header and ordering new freedom tops. Waiting again......

Update:
After several months of excuses and poor attempts of fixing the problem, the noise is final gone. They replaced the door seal, the long seal along top of window header and the 2 front freedom top panels. The wind noise is completely gone now!

My 08JK has had random/intermittent wind sounds that seemed either above the windshield or above the driver door, at different times.

Each time I finally get fed up with it, and take off the panel, squirt it down with silicon spray, then carefully replace the panel, the wind noise is abated....for a period of weeks.

I think there is a very critical few mm/fractions that 'tight' vs 'not-tight' determines the wind noise.

And usually the tell sign is related to just how snug the front latch is.

When it's all together 'right' I have no wind sound.

Thx for the silicon spray hint. Going to try that.

my leak is in the drivers side, close to the mirror of the door. it almost sounds like its going into the dash, or coming from the windshield behind the tweeter. but i checked and it's not the windshield.. any advice? ps it's a 2013 jku

I have the same noise but feel no air and get no leaks. I'm beginning to think it's just road noise and I forgot what it sounded like during the soft top months.

Mine had an air leak at 2 miles old in the window right behind the tweeter. They replaced the windshield after trying all manner of things and it fixed it.

I had another wind noise coming from the upper drivers door. I found that it was coming from one of the drip channels off of the header. I stuffed a rolled up piece of cling film there temporarily. It completely killed it so I left it in there. lol
