Here is the front windshield already tinted 50% & the left front passenger untinted, barely any difference in visibility:

It's like it's not even there. But in the previous picture you can tell the tint is there (dimmed license plate). 5% difference for reference:

The brand was 3M Color Stable. Non-metallic so I have zero reflection inside & it doesn't interfere with anything that needs a signal. I don't feel like all eyes are on me anymore whenever I drive, .

lol my thoughts exactly. All you've gotta do is roll down the windows for a minute though. I would do that if it were legal in Texas.

I'm used to it, . I grew up driving with tint, I think I drive worse without it. Lol.

Thanks! I ordered the ACE Pro Series rear bumper with the two Rigid 6" LED's about a month ago. I think I have a few more weeks before I get a tracking number. Also those pictures were taken at like 8:10 PM. Good thing Alaska has 24 hour sunshine in the summer, .

$263.84 for everything shipped to Alaska. Cheaper shipped to anywhere in the lower 48. I tinted it myself.

Everything was pre-cut & I got it on eBay from the seller filmvantage:

eBay My World - filmvantage

All of the cuts were exact & they got 50%, 35%, 20%, & 5%.

Wow

I did the same with my Jeep. It cost me $250 to have it done professionally. You must not have those types of shops in Alaska. Your Jeep looks awesome.

Looks great though.

Thanks! Yours looks good too. We got a few shops who could do it but none of them use 3M. A lot of 'em use BlackBox or Llumar. Nothing wrong with those brands. I just prefer 3M, .

You live in D.C. right? I could imagine a place like that they would only want the President with tint!

Window tint is state enforced by which state the plate is registered in. If your home state allows, visiting state must comply.

Wrong. A car driving in Virginia must comply with Virginia code on windows. Only exemption is for medical needs with a Doctors permit. Tons of Florida drivers are cited just driving through the Commonwealth, and the tickets hold up in court. It is considered no different than hanging a blanket in the window blocking vision.

Paranoid much or maybe just a huge ego??

It's a little dark for me and illegal here in VA not that i would do it anyways. Around here you get tickets for that pretty much instantly.

The install does look pretty clean though.

Ego has nothing to do with it. Lol, . I just like privacy. I don't like people peeking inside my vehicles in parking lots, etc. or people like panhandlers staring at me at stop lights. I've grown up with tint ever since I started driving so 5% is pretty light to me. I have two more vehicles & they have 0% tint all around & the other 5% tint all around. It's normal to me,

The yellow thing glowing on the horizon must really bother you up there. What do you do in the winter? I can't believe you can see a thing in the dark and fog of a typical Alaska winter day.

Off topic...

You have any pics from the side and front showing how much those wheels stick out? Have the same set sitting in the garage waiting on my Jeep to get delivered.

Thx!

It gets pretty annoying in the summers. Especially when you're trying to sleep at night & all you see is sunshine through the curtains/blinds.

Winter's in the cities (Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, etc.) are pretty normal. Sunshine during the day, gets dark around like 6 PM. But winters in the rural areas get no sunshine at all from 4 - 6 months depending on the area. Up on the North Slope we get 6 straight months of non-stop sun & then 6 straight months of darkness/no sun. It's a great excuse for folks to light their Jeeps up with some spots & floods, .

Maybe I should clarify. Plate specific. Again state enforced.

I have 37 % ceramic tint on my entire windshield with 20 on the sides but i do have a medical sticker and rx from doctor. I am a DAV with an eye injury from my army days so the tint helps. Knock on wood i have never been pulled for it.

Got any pictures? Sounds awesome.

I originally wanted to do 35% on the front windshield but I was told 50% was the lowest for 3M on front windshields for pre-cut tint. I guess I could just get a roll & cut it myself.

I have 3M on mine and they did it for less than your cost. Must be because I live in a Rural area in Northern Arizona where things are a little less money. They'd probably be more in Phoenix.

Luckily, I have driven through about 5 states already and cops have passed me but never have I been pulled over. Knock on wood. If I see one coming, I usually roll down my front windows.

If you have the dark visor strip, the 50% front isn't that noticeable .

Sorry, but this is wrong.

A police officer/deputy sheriff/state trooper knows the law for their State and not for 49 other States. If you visit another State, you and your vehicle must be in compliance with that State's laws.

I know. I was a cop for nearly 25 years and have dealt with this issue repeatedly.

Plate specific means nothing.

The 3M tint itself was like $180 & the rest was shipping to Alaska, . Yeah don't jinx yourself on getting pulled over! Lol.

Yeah that's why I did it. Isn't noticeable at first glance unless you're staring into my windshield.

Dang! FPD that strict? APD isn't that bad. Usually only ticket you for tint if they pulled you over for something else initially like speeding, running a red light, etc.
