Window Tint Percentage

Does any know what percent the factory tint is on the hard top for a 2008 JK? We are slow at work today and want to get the front roll downs done but dont need to get a ticket for them being to dark. Thanks

about 20%. i did 20% on my fronts and it matches pretty closely.
you most likely won't get bothered with 20%.

You may want to check state laws. I grew up in midwest and they harassed most of my friends for the tint being too dark. My front windows are close to the hard top and it does get a little difficult checking mirrors when windows are up, especially in the rain at night.

Thanks for the help. thats what i was thinking it was. so now i have to decide if i want to risk it or not.

in the state of illinois you can have 35% on all windows. if you have anything darker on the behind driver windows, you are not allowed to tint your front windows at all. Unless its factory tint which is what mine is you can have 55%.

My thing is as soon as i put my soft top on the factory tint goes away as i have the 3 piece so i would technically only be illegal when i have my hard top on for 4 months.

I did my front windows with 35% because the soft top tinted windows are supposedly about 35%
My front 35% windows are not as dark as the soft top windows.

I did 20% up front and it matches pretty close to the rest of the windows. My state laws are 50% up front, 35% in the back. I haven't had any trouble. Pics in my profile.

I did 20% to match the soft top, pics upon request. The hard top should be similar. Trade your clear softies for some tinted ones and tint the jeep out!

On a 2011 Unlimited 4 Door, what % should I put on the front side windows to match the rear?

Seems like 35% it is...

Anyone know if someone sells a kit of the film already pre-cut... The Jeep is in Egypt.

Thinking of also getting a light tint for the front....

I just had 20% installed professionally and it is darker than the back windows and hard top. I'm taking it back and having 30% installed. His tester says the light transmission is the same, however, the eye test says the front doors are darker now.

Can you use VHT nightshade on your rear soft top windows to tint them?

I also did 20% to match the soft top. It's actually not that dark, I'm glad I didn't go with 35%, which would be hardly noticeable from some angles.

I did 23% and it's a pretty decent match to the Super Top NX soft-top windows. Bestop also makes the factory Mopar soft-top. I almost positive it has the same 31% tint.

The Deep Factory Tint Option is 20%.

I've got 3M 5% on mine. Never been above 15% since I've been driving (16 years) and luckily have never had any problems with cops.

Knock on wood.
