Windows out overnight?

Hey all, I'm new to owning a Jeep and I have a quick question. How many of you leave your Jeeps parked outside without the windows in? It's been really nice here in N. Virginia lately so I've been leaving the windows out so I can drop the top easily the next morning. Aside from security, is there any reason to put the windows in overnight? Just looking for your experience. Thanks!

wink

I leave mine topless every night if it'll be warm the next day. I recomend keeping a can of OFF bug repellent if you don't like bugs cause before I started spraying the inside of my jeep with it I'd go out to find spider webs EVERYWHERE and bugs and all sorts of annoying stuff

Mine is parked every night without windows, top or doors. It can be a little damp in the ams, but a few minutes in the sun and he is good to go.

Thanks for the replies. It's oddly comforting knowing there are others out there who leave their jeeps open overnight. I'll remember the can of OFF, thanks...What parts of the Jeep do you spray? How does that smell when you have to put the top up? I wonder if those new buy repellent fans would work...

I guess I'll hope for the best on animals not getting in there...I can deal with bugs, but animals may be a different story!

I've been leaving it without the top or doors on. I rarely lock the thing even when I have my top on! I usually just lock the glove box and all that up and make sure I hide whatever valuables that are in there.

I spray the corners of the roll bar and the seats, and the smell has never been lingering by morning

For me, it's mainly pine needles that are unwelcome guests - damn forest

I just ordered a nifty $48 lockbox that bolts in under the driver's seat, and when that's installed will leave the glovebox unlocked.......

Locking Under Seat Storage Box by BestopĀ® and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware-RH1

Have a great 4th all !!

Do you like that cover? How long does it take to put on? I may get that down the road.

I backed out of the driveway and made it only about 20ft down the street one morning and a damn cat came flying out from the back area one morning. Must have been asleep in the rear seat well and probably was scared to death. Freaked me the hell out, but woke me up at least...

Since then I try and look around inside if I leave it open at night.

I absolutely love it! The first couple of times putting it on were difficult. Now that it's broken in and I have my "system" for putting it on, it goes on quick and easy. I can have it completely on in less than 5 minutes.

A couple weeks ago I had the top and doors off and it looked like a storm was moving in. I decided to just put the trail cover on since I figured it wouldn't last long. When I got out to the Jeep with the cover, I felt the first drops. I got it on and started to the house when the sky opened up. I never would have gotten the top and doors on in time. It was a bad thunderstorm with high winds. When it was over there wasn't a drop of water in my Jeep.

Nice!!! I think that will be on my Christmas wish list this year! Then I can feel better about taking and leaving the doors off!!!

I always leave mine open; just never leave anything in there that's worth taking. I came out one morning to a McDonald's bag on the floor, cigarette butts in my ashtray and a pile of change in the cup holder! Apparently, someone rented it while I was sleeping.

x2 on the trail cover! Definitely faster and easier than putting the top up, and it keeps the dew and creepy crawlies out! Oh and it also keeps out rain and all the other stuff....

My driveway extends to my detached garage, which is in the backyard, so I pull mine behind my gate into the yard with the top down and windows off every night. The only thing I do is spread two old beach towels across the seats so I don't sit on bird $hit in the morning.

Oh boy do I have a story, I usually leave my jacket in my trunk for times when the tops down and it gets cold, well last week it was 40 degrees on my way to work so I threw it on... About 10 minutes into the drive this 2" black and white 8 legged freak comes crawling down my arm towards my hand....

I slam on my brakes and start waving my arm out the side of the jeep like a mad man (all of this while going 60 on the turnpike )

It scared the **** out of me!

That reminds me of a episode of "Bait Car".
Cops set up sting by faking a DUI pullover and arrest. They left the vehicle at the scene unlocked, it was a nice shiny new fullsize pickup. Older black gentleman, late 50's early 60's comes walking buy scoping out the truck..he opens the door looks around and keeps on walking. 5 minutes later he comes walking back with a grocery bag...he hops in the truck starts eating a sandwich and a pepsi..takes a phone call..finishes eating...then leaves....

Hope you're enjoying the 100 degree weather we're having here in NOVA. If I wasn't so pasty white I'd be going topless and doorless.

I used to leave my CJ out like that all the time. Survived a tornado with the windows out.

I do, and I've had the top down, and doors off for the last week. Nobody really ever messes with anything on my street. I guess I'm lucky.
