Windshield replacement

I've had my '12 JKU for about 3 weeks now and got a nice crack in the lowest part of the windshield while on the freeway yesterday. That crack is now pretty big so I'll be calling insurance tomorrow.

My question is this: will they replace with OEM glass? I ask because of the Jeep symbol at the top of the glass and the little Jeep ramping up a hill in the drivers side. I'd like to have those back.

My insurance has the option of w/oem under glass coverage......supposedly that covers getting the OEM windshield

Just make sure you request OEM glass. I had mine replaced recently and requested OEM glass. I didn't have to pay anything. If you don't request OEM they will use a replacement windshield.

Had my shield replaced as well. Get used to it. When mine was getting replaced I asked a question similar to yours. I was told that people who have call of duty jeeps have to pay the difference for the special glass. I would assume that that would be the same case with yours. Honestly it is not worth it in my opinion. You will likely be replacing the glass again sometime soon expecially if you are a regular highway driver.

Hopefully you have unlimited free glass on your insurance. Love jeeping... enjoy cracked windshields

I'm getting mine replaced tomorrow as well because the seal on the lower passenger side was not done right from the factory. It was missing about 5 inches and the wind noise was terrible. I assume they will take the stock glass off, reseal and replace with the same piece but if it breaks I would hate to lose the factory graphics. I guess after reading this it will probably happen anyway.

But I'm doing all I can to avoid it buy lifting it 3.5" and putting some 35s on it Friday!!

If mine gets cracked I'm going to get the Polycarbonate one.

Checkout:
Roadless Gear PolyShield: Roadless Gear For Jeep

Here's a thread on it:
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/aft...ld-136430.html

If you get glass, it's just going to crack again.

Regarding the logos, you can buy just the stickers. There was a thread on here a few months ago.

Do you know something that i don't? My Rubicon with the MW3 call of duty package has the same glass as any other 12 wrangler as far as i know. It has the jeep grille at center top of windshield and the little jeep at the bottom right of the windsheild as did every other 2012 that i looked at when i bought mine. I was just wondering if you think the COD has bulletproof glass, LOL. In Texas you have the right to request original equipment parts from your insurance company according to State Farm which is what i use.

Just called Geico. As a matter of fact, they only replace with OEM according to my rep unless I specify otherwise.

Not sure if it matters, but I'm using Safelite.

Regarding the polycarbonate one...it can't be all positives. I'd imagine the negative is that it's not quite as clear as glass?

Safelite is a great company. I have used them in the past for other cars and I am actually getting mine replaced today through them(JK only made it 4k miles before first crack). They give you the option but the rep you talked to is correct in they usually default to giving you an OEM windshield.

As far as the polycarbonate, the downsides are not being as clear and also wind noise.

The windshield on the JKUS replaced 2 weeks ago by Safelite, I told them upfront that I would only accept factory replacement. It was in stock and they replaced it the next day without issue.

Got mine replaced by Safelite. All in all it went pretty well, but the guy took forever (about an hour and a half) and he seemed a bit old school. He told me to leave the tape on the top corners of the windshield for 24hrs, but I think that's a bit excessive, especially in Arizona heat. Thoughts?

Took a small rock to my windshield yesterday. Have about a 8 inch crack and growing on the bottom passenger side. Insurance is taking care of it and glass gets replaced with a mopar windshield on Monday by a local auto glass company. Safelite gets poor reviews in my area and the place doing mine gets great reviews. Mines a 12 jkur with about 12k on it. Anyone's insurance go up from claiming glass

They don't usually raise your insurance until the 8th or 9th time in a year that you claim a windshield.
