The Jeep ( 07-JK-U "X") has been sitting in the driveway for over a week in the rain...
Today I get in to move it and it fires right up as usual.....cept this time the wipers are working and the headlights come on.. Both switches are in the "OFF" position...
So I moved it out of the way and shut it off and restarted it a couple times to see if it made any difference....It didn't.
I shut it off and opened the hood, the Headlights went out... The under hood light came on...
All looked Ok under the hood, nothing wet ,just a little sweat on the bottom of the hood at the Cowl...
Inside the Cab was dry, sometimes I get a drip on top the radio, but it was dry.
I'm going back thru the old posts because I know I have read about this problem here before .....Should have bookmarked it I guess.
Any Ideas ???? Thank's "BH"

I unhooked the Battery for about an hour....
Hooked the Positive lead back up and the Horn Honked once...
No change, wipers still run and the headlights are still on once the key is turned to the "ON" position ....
I might put a heat lamp on it and see if that changes anything...This being a holiday I won't be able to get it into the "steelership" til probably wenzday .
Sure glad I got another rig I can DEPEND on to drive.... "BH"

Wish I could help and I also don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a similar issue. I've had this happen twice. When I shut off my 09 JKU X after turning the lights off and get out the lights are still on. I simply turn the lights on and back off and they are good. I wasn't sure if it was an electrical issue or what.

So you guys are saying that your lights did not do this in the beginning, they just started doing this staying on thing....?
Just curious because sometimes the newer vehicle headlights will stay on as a convenience feature so your not getting out in the dark....lots of people are afraid of the dark ya know...
This way ya get part way to your door the lights time out and the boogyman gets ya anyway.... Be careful !! "BH"

My Jeep freaked me out a couple of months back... Headlights came on and I couldn't figure out why... The selector was set to Auto and it was about 2 in the afternoon on a clear, sunny day... I switched the selector to Off and they shut off... Back to Auto, back on... I though "What the heck!?" I looked over and saw that the notepad I was just looking down at (while at a stop light) had been tossed up onto the dash (I must have done it when the light turned green)... That's the day I discovered where the sensor was... Duh!!! Little black ball in the center of the dash... Never gave it a second glance.

On a side note, I have a 2012 JKUS and had my wipers screw around a few times too (making a random pass or two without being turned on)... Couldn't ever figure out why, but has been several months since it last happened... [knock on wood]

Self Healing Jeep....

So I parked the Jeep in my shop where it was dry and I disconnected the Pos. cable on the Batt....
I let it set in the shop for well over a week...Every once in a while I would lean on the fender and look at it in discuss....:nonono:
Today It's snowing so I went out to look at it some more and see if I could wave a wand over it to make it work again..
I hooked up the positive battery cable, the horn honked....
I got in and the milage was showing on the dash, I put in the key and it fired right up like always...
The head lights were OFF, the Wipers were OFF ....:dance:
So I let it run for a few minutes and took it for a spin, seems to run and everything seems "normal"
I guess it's healed it's self....Kinda scary , guess we'll wait til the next big rain storm....see if it happens again.
I think whats going here is corrosion on the contacts that go thru the boards in the fuse box to the TIPM... I see on the posted pics from "JK Owners" that there appears to be corrosion on the contacts of those boards.
The corrosion picks up moisture and causes lots of gremlins....
So If it works til warmer weather I may take the box out and unstack those boards and clean all the contacts and put in back together....
I have had the Jeep for almost 1 year now, been thru a lot of rain storms here in Oregun.....Why now...
Til next time.... "BH"

Any possibility this problem came from getting the interior drenched... My wipers came on and my steering column controls were unresponsive after I was caught in storm with just my bikini top on (no doors or back)... Everything worked fine the day of, but the next day is when the problems started. I disconnected the battery and cleared the code last night. So far, so good. I am just wondering if the rain caused this problem or not

Pulling this one up as I had the phantom wipers that won't quit too. Yanked the fuse to get me back to work, didn't want the poor Jeep to be embarrassed driving back waving the wipers over the hood. Pulled the negative battery cable and let it sleep for an hour and worked fine after.

Trying to figure out if this is a one time deal or if I need to be proactive and trace the issue down. Do we know about the ground? where the ground problems have been? (like that since its a cheap fix)

Had this problem this morning 2013 JK unlimited, wipers came on after I started the Jeep , wiper switch off... switch won't do anything ...
turned the light switch on and somehow this reset everything back to normal.
is this a computer glitch or the problem will come back, I am not sure will keep you posted.
