Worst tank yet (MPG) 2010 Rubi

Got caught behind a Christmas Parade 2 weekends ago, finally figured up the mileage on that tank, 16.2MPG, my worst tank yet since buying my Jeep in July, I had been averaging 19.4, but I guess 0-2MPH for 45 minutes really killed it. That is worse than my last wheeling trip where I got 16.7. Anxious to see how my first real rock crawling adventure affects it, I'm expecting high 11s to low 12s.

I hear ya when your stuck in traffic "parade". I've been known to drive through drainage ditches and down shoulders when in similar situations.

All in all, still cheaper than driving the Dodge diesel, still almost $4/gal here, gas is at $2.999.

Idling kills mile per gallon. I can get 24 mpg in my JK when I leave New Orleans and cruise 90 miles to my 2nd home( no stop lights or stop signs). Now when I hit minor or major traffic mpg's drop like a rock.

There's an idea, hook up a tow strap to your front hook and to the back of one of the parade vehicles. Then just turn off the engine and enjoy the show.

That sucks, but 16 mpg would be good for me. I am always idling in traffic and according to the car I am currently getting 13.4 mpg, up from around 11 when I first bought it......

24MPG, that is some good mileage, my best to date is 22, but most tanks have at least one trip to the mountains, so I feel fortunate to be able to the mileage I get, most of my buddies who own Jeeps (all TJs) say 16MPG is a great tank of gas, most average 13MPG. I plan on adding a modest lift next year, I am sure that won't help the mileage. Of course, I didn't buy it for the mileage, I bought it for the huge frikkin smile it puts on my face. Sometimes on my lunch break, I just sit in my Jeep and think about the things I want to do to it, and the places i want to take it.

There are support groups for that kind of thing. I heard WF is a good one.
