I have the 2010 Raptor in molten orange. I had it for 4 years now and paid$36000 for it. Being one of the first 100 owners I also got $1500 in ford Motor racing parts free. I traded a 2009 Sahara for it and paid cash. I am keeping this truck for ever. Looking to ger a MOAB edition to keep it company.

I had a 2011 Molten Orange, the fit and finish was horrible, rare truck, but the JK is better in my opinion. I paid close to 50K for it and when I went to trade it in (6 months old with 7000 miles) all they wanted to give me was 39K.

Well here is a video of a stock JK jumping and it seems to handle it a lot better then that raptor. It was still driving in the end

Well I don't jump with my Raptor. It's used for hunting with my Small Munsterlander bird dogs. I have the Diamond Deluxe dog box in the back. It is great in the snow. We hunt from Maine to South Dakota. Hunting with the Sahara was a pain. Feathers everywhere. with the dog box I can keep my firearms in the top and store gear in the other side of the box. Sorry to hear you had bad luck with yours . I have the 5.4 with 100000 and no repa I rs

I was just thinking about this the other day...if I could afford any car (but I could only have 1 car to own) what would I trade for? Well, I couldn't think of anything I would trade my JKU for. Now, if I could trade for something, sell it and buy a new jeep and have some walking around money, then I would do it.

My wife and I were recently playing the "if I won the lotto" game and she was fantasizing about which car she would buy. She settled on a Land Rover. I honestly can't think of any vehicle I'd rather have than a wrangler. Of course, if I won the lotto I'd trade in my Sport Unlimited for a JKUR and set aside like $50k for mods!

To the OP, I would trade my JKU for a Raptor in a heartbeat.

I love Ford pickups. My JK is used for hunting and that is primarily the off roading I do. The Raptor would do exactly what I need it to do in regards to hunting as well as has a bed. I have been to the Home Depot a number of times and cursed myself for not having a bed to take my stuff home in.

As much as I love my JK, the Raptor would win out easily.

What a crappy camera man! It should not take a Mensa candidate to figure out great/safe/easy places make massive jumps on sand dunes like that. And a camera man should not freak out like a little girl when someone make an awesome jump like that either.

They are somewhere in the middle east. They're not exactly known for doing anything with any kind of automobile in a safe manner. Look up "two wheel driving middle east" on Youtube and let the adventure begin.

The only Raptor worth buying is a VelociRaptor, however, asking which you should buy, a JK or a Raptor is like asking which should I buy, a hammer or a wrench? Both are designed for different things. You have to ask yourself what you really want to do and what do you want out of your 4x4.

VelociRaptor is designed for this:

JK's are designed for this:

If I worked at Ford and could get a deal my ultimate dream would be a JKU and a Mustang GT500 in the garage.

Raptor is an amazing truck but in a different class than the Jeep, I wouldn't get rid of one for the other.

So a buddy who has a Raptor an I took ours offroad together two weekends ago. Very interesting to see what the similarities and differences were.

Raptor wins:
- Washboard roads. Raptor drives on them like they're paved highway. Smooth and fun. Jeep sounds like it wants to explode.
- Speed. I know, I know... Jeeps aren't supposed to be fast on the trails. Raptor could handle sections of trail at 45mph that I couldn't do any more than 25 or so on. The suspensions really are that different.
- Storage. Having a bed helps you tote around more gear for multi-day camping trips and such. But... I bought my Jeep knowing it didn't have this. I'm ok with this.
- Brakes. Raptor brakes are awesome. Jeep brakes suck with lift and bigger wheels/tires. I get that the factory brakes are set up for factory rigs, but sheesh... Jeep knows what people do in the aftermarket... a beefier factory setup would be nice.

Jeep wins:
- River crossing. Raptor's lack of clearance = no ability to cross boulder-filled rivers. Jeep handled it with ease.
- Narrow trails. Raptor's big ass couldn't fit between trees and actually had to get left behind on a trail. Jeep fit through without issue.
- Mod costs. Jeep mods (which are much more prevalent) are actually cheaper. Go figure.
- Wheelbase. My 4-door of course has a shorter wheelbase which is nice for doing log crossings and such. Less chance of hi-centering.
- Mud pit in 2WD. Drive to the middle and come to a complete stop. Then drive out of it. Jeep did it in 2WD. Raptor had to get into 4WD to get out.

Just some observations outside of the obvious things (power, price, etc.)

If it was a fully loaded raptor? Sure I'd trade, then I'd sell it and buy my Jeep back plus a few extra mods

My buddy had one and took it over some pretty crazy jumps. Unfortunately somehow a fuel line burst after a jump and it burned to a crisp. Ill see if I can find the pic. Somehow he got insurance to pay for it.

If i could trade my JK sport straight accross for a raptor i would, and then promptly sell it, buy a new Moab edition and put the rest of the money in the bank. If i needed a pickup, i could get a new ram 2500 with a cummins for the price of a raptor, and with a lift and some bigger wheels and tires it would be every bit as good offroad, and have substantially more towing capacity.

Trust me your not going to just slap a lift some wheels and tires on a 10 thousands pound tuck and be able to do the things you can do in a Raptor with it.

I agree with everyone that would trade there stock jeep for one since they would be coming out on top, unless you had to keep it for X amount of years before you could buy another jeep it would be silly not to do it.

I wouldn't trade anything for a ford. Matter of fact, I had my girlfriend get rid of her ford and bought her a jeep. MOPAR.

It wouldn't be 10,000 lbs, and he could probably hang with a raptor if he installed a good carli kit.
