Well, I'm no soccermom. Chrysler didn't open the market to soccermoms, they opened up the market to people like myself who need space and still want a Wrangler.

Yeah, funny how someone with two doors think they're better than someone with four doors on the same vehicle. We're not talking about two-door Chevelles vs. four-door Chevelles.

This too. The more money Chrysler makes, the nicer their vehicles will become. Not a bad thing because in the end, hopefully the quality of the product will continue to increase. IMO, Chrysler is making some decent ground.

It just makes it harder for a "hardcore" Jeep guy to stroke his ego by trying to brag about his Jeep at work when a soccer mom pops her head over the cubicle wall and says "I drive one of those too"!

If someone has to "stroke their ego" by means of bragging that they have a Jeep, this person has some serious self esteem issues.

I think it's a great thing. Sure, the uniqueness of owning a Jeep in general has disappeared. But the ability to make your Jeep unique has not!

I drive a 2 door (the minority now), with half doors (major major minority, haven't seen a single other half door JK around here), and I get to mod it as much as I like to make it my own. Bumpers, lifts, tires, and the list goes on and on.

The continued succes means the product gets to grow. More can be spent on R&D and improvements. More vendors can create interesting aftermarket products because the market is bigger. It's great.

And it means more Jeeps to wave at, even if it means a lower percentage of them that wave back.

I agree but have you ever been to a car show? Talk about egos. I've seen lawn chairs thrown because their car didn't finish high enough.

There's one in every bunch. Whether they ride a Harley, drive a 'vette, own a boat or whatever else. They think it makes them special and want to brag how great it is.

Me too. Bought mine day after Fathers Day. I also like the fact that with more product on the road, more mods are being bought. This should lead to cheaper mods eventually. Ever notice teh differences in prices between mods for a YJ vs a JK?

Yeah, been to PLENTY of car shows, even competed in a few. People seriously throw hissy fits.

I can appreciate a good car show and understand people being upset, especially considering the amount of time and money some people put into their projects, but it is what it is. The odds are that a "cherry" 1978 Ford Fairmont isn't going to "win" a car show over a "decent" 1969 Camaro 396 SS.

I guess I just never had the need to brag about what I had...

If the fact that someone owns the same thing that you do bothers you then MAN up. That's like saying its wrong for someone else to have the same work boots as you but taller so thier boots aren't as cool as yours. When my little kids pull that they get a good thump on the head and told to act right.

It does amaze me how egos go sometimes. If not from TJ to JK owners, 4dr to 2dr, or Rubicon, to sport to Sahara owners, it really amazes me sometimes. Seems we lost our path from the true Jeep Community. I remember at the Bantum Jeep Festival last year that every Willy and early CJ owners were the first to wave at every Jeep they past. It didn't matter what you drove. They loved their Jeep and appreciated everyone else that drove one.

Not to start a wave post but one of the saddest post I have read was in the general forum the other day where a TJ owner said he refused to recognize a JK as a Jeep and would never wave at them. That's not the Jeep Community I knew about. But on the other side, a owner of a TJ Rubicon followed me into the grocery store parking lot the other day to ask me about my Jeep. Not once did he brag about owning a TJ or Rubicon. We talked about our rigs and our mods. Now that's the true Jeep community.

I think it is great that Chrysler has diversified Jeep so much. I hate it when someone pounds their chest that a 4dr is a minvan/soccer mom Jeep but on the other hand you have those that claim the 4dr is so much better then the 2dr when in fact they both have their pros and cons. Whether it is, which will do better in tight trails with sharp turn, vertical climbs or break overs or whether a Rubicon is superior to a Sport or a Sahara, it really comes down to need and what your using it for. A limited slip may be the better need to lockers or if your upgrading to even better equipment then why buy something that you plan to replace anyways. Or do you want the comforts of a Sahara that the others don't offer.

But the fact that we have a choice of 2dr or 4dr with three packages to fit every need has made it to where the Wrangler is becoming one of the best selling 4wd's on the market. Not to mention it helps keep it reputation and resale value as the top of it's class. That keeps the Jeep going for future generations and not dying out like so many other vehicles that have come and gone.

I don't do as much as even raise a finger to TJ owners. I don't have time for their elitist attitudes. They can wave to me first.

Actually, I don't even think it's an "elitist" attitude, I just think it's a denial that the JK does everything their "hand-built by god" TJ does...

One learns a lot within two months of owning a Jeep, like who to wave to and who not to. It sucks but that's the way the Jeep community seems to be these days.

Sales may be up on new Wranglers but there must not be many people trading in jku's. I've been watching for one and Autotrader ususally only has about 45 within 300 miiles that come close to what I'm looking for. You guys with 08 and newer, less than 60,000 mile, power windows and locks need to upgrade so I can find a nice used one.

I was in a place where I love to go explore a new dirt road but I wanted a motorcycle for the freedom and community. Right now I have the kids with me all the time so we can get my wife through her phd. The bike will wait and I've always wanted a jeep. The only prob was the jeep was too small for my needs and too under powered for a 4 dr. The 2012 means I can pull a trailer big enough to ditch the truck bed and take the kids with more room the my current pickup. We are going to order my jkur in about 2 weeks and I'm waving to everyone! Already used to waving to other 4x4s on the trails.
