You really need to check the owner's manual for towing capacity because it is determined by a few factors regarding the tow-ability of the jeep. One of the factors in the formula is the gear ratio. This will determine if there is enough torque to get the rig started from stop under average conditions (incline). My jeep has a towing capacity of 3500 pulling weight and 350 tongue weight. This is a typical ratio of 10 to 1 pulling weight to tongue weight. When setting up your load in a utility trailer, this is something to take into consideration. Try not to overload the front of the trailer as this will cause too much tongue weight compared to the total weight of the trailer and contents and this will put too much weight on the receiver possibly compromising it in a hard braking situation or collision. Putting all of the weight behind the trailer axle will cause the tongue to be un-weighted and this is also dangerous causing the trailer and tow vehicle to tend to set up oscillation sideways and the rig can become un-controllable. My best advice would be to try and keep these things in mind while loading any trailer. And be safe...drive slow while under tow.
