HERE HERE ! ! ! if they still made a CHEROKEE that was antyhing like the old one (especially a 2 door..thats right a 2 DOOR !) i would have bought one and not a JK

i got one for work..i used to have a 2 door 1993 that i used for work and it was perfect....not like that ugly overly pussified thing that is coming out next year...

BTW...i LOVE my JK ...i would've bought a 2 door Cherokee instad cuz it would've been cheaper and fine for work... but all the bonus JK stuff is a BONUS ! !

+1.

I remember Jay Leno quoted some old sayings about cars, something like, "Last year of the old tech is better than first year of the new tech."

A buddy of mine (46 years old) found out he had terminal cancer last summer, and died before Christmas.

Why wait, you never know.....

Oh good Lord I'm sorry for the loss. For some reason, your post struck a cord; perhaps because its brutally true.

OP, buy the dang Jeep.

I have an early 2012 too. I have had zero problems with it with 37k miles (except for the fog light bulbs). I still will be buying a 2016..

Could there be some old fart still waiting for the perfect Ford model T?

I just got a 2013 two weeks ago but it will be paid off before 2016. Might get the new design for 2017 & still keep the 2013. You only live once, so why not ?!

There are 4000+ posts in every 2012 head thread on every big Jeep forum. Glad you skated through so far, but I couldn't bear the worry!

why worry? It is a minor inconvienence at most. 1 day in the shop plug and play repair for any decent tech. I stopped reading the head threads when I realized so many people thought replacing a cylinder head was a big deal. It takes less skill to swap a cylinder head then it does to swap gears yet nobody thinks that is a big deal.

I worry because the humps outnumber the good mechanics 4 to 1 at every dealership.

Then again, the old saying goes like this.. "Good things come to those who wait."

Maybe the 2017 Wrangler (debuting in summer 2016 like we've talked about for a long long time now) will have options like a CRD engine, no-leak solid roof or one piece roof, more towing, etc. etc.. who knows? If somebody is saving cash and wants to buy a new Wrangler only ONCE and drive it forever...waiting at this point might not be a horrible idea.

Totally agree, stumbled into my first Rubicon, and was the best decision I ever made. After 10 1/2 years and countless mods, I changed it out for a 11 Rubicon 2dr.

Do not wait for the next great thing, especially with a Jeep, because all you are going to do is rip off half the stock parts and mod it anyway.

Conversely, the 2017 could be a unibody, without solid axles and a gutless wonder. Google the "Fiat Panda". Hopefully the Wrangler does not go in that direction.

I would be all for a smaller Wrangler, but not if it is like that. I won't drive something derived from something else named "Panda".

On one hand, they brought back the Viper. On the other hand, they destroyed the Cherokee. Hmmm.

Hi

It seems that 2014 export wranglers will get the new 3.0 Pentastar. Just speculation from me but with 8 speed auto, multi air, turbo and other new stuff it might get close to the pentastar 3.6 or over with lower fuel cost in the future.

"Three 2014 cars will get the 3.0 liter V6, all export versions (the 3.0 was developed primarily to avoid high displacement taxes): the 300C/Thema, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited."

It might be an option for US buyers, who knows.

Buy now. If they have something you like, get it. I put off buying one for a few years and couldn't get the color I originally wanted. I was a little disappointed when I found out, but now I am very happy with my Rock Lobster.

It is too much fun not to get one when you can.

Oh, and by the way, I DID buy a YJ to tide me over until I could get a 4-Door. The YJ is still going strong and is loads of fun.
